Johnnie's accident was tragic, but the remainder of his life was NOT A TRAGEDY. He wouldn't allow it to be. He never lost that beautiful voice; he continued to sing, write and record - including for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; he taught and guided young people; he produced music in the studio for other people; he never lost that megawatt smile and positive outlook; and he encouraged others that they too could make it after a similar setback, including Teddy Pendergrass who turned to Johnnie at his lowest moment - and they became good friends. Johnnie lived an additional 27 years after his injury and was a BLESSING to many. He literally ran his race and WON!

Funny …. All this time I thought he was Michael Evans from Good Times
From the 3:38 mark, Johnnie becomes possessed & takes his soul, heart, voice & talent to another level! Arguably the best voice & ending to any song ever! Many wedding couples dance to this at receptions, but this video & version is timeless classic! Thank you Johnnie for this memorable song & your gifted talent! R.I.P.

Possessed is the right word choice. If you’ve ever had an experience like that, it’s like God takes control. Just unbelievable and you can feel the energy coming through a video from the 70’s.

Outstanding song. Johnny Wilder Jr 's voice is breath taking, sublime. Musicality, tender, exquisite. This man deserves plaudits and a posthumous award for his contribution to music and acknowledgement to music. The love of which continued even after the car accident. Inspirational. 🌟🌟🌟

old people (and i am one) are hilarious. you do realize that there were some folks born in the 20’s listening/watching to this that wanted them to put some shirts on and stop using this electric guitars. right? it’s a beautiful song and performance. no need to disparage anyone else’s art. and there are plenty of artists who carry on the tradition of live instrumentation and musicianship in performance.
