Hi Will, I saw the original Human League line up back in 1978 when they supported Siouxsie and the Banshees. I was blown away by "Being Boiled" and "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and have been a fan ever since. I still have my original 7" single of "Being Boiled" in mono on the Fast record label.

Just checked and I've still got my 7" mono Fast label in the pink sleeve with Circus of Death on the B side. I must admit I bought on a recommendation and I went back to guitars and songs but I'll never sell it.

Fantastic. I caan remember BB being released and how revolutionary it was - electronic music that wasn't Kraftwerk. Synth pop that was also dance music.

Was at that gig as well. My wife, her brother and his wife have always been big into 70s/80s electro/new wave (big Gary Numan fans) - I'm more of an 80s/90s guitar band fan - Smiths, Oasis, etc. Have to say I was blown away - a fantastic gig. Got there early and they might as well have just put a CD on instead of Rusty Egan, but it was a great night.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but you're quite wrong in your claim. Whilst the Human League were steadily slipping down the charts Heaven 17 were building a massive following not to mention shifting a huge amount of albums. It does say something about the strength of a band when two thirds of Heaven 17 are still together whilst Oakley still sings with the girls who can't and the rest of that band are gone. That started with Martin Rushent who produced Dare. The girls were awful to him so he walked. That was when the rot set in. The League were desperate for songs and went to Jam and Lewis. Human wouldn't have seemed out of place being sung as a duet by Alexander O'Neal and Cherelle.. Ian Craig Marsh left The League with Martin Ware to form H 17. A troubled man whom finally just disappeared from the Band and left the music industry. It's my understanding him and Ware remained friends. Can't see Jo Calais being on Suzanne Sulley's Christmas card list Stay well.

@@stringer-ik1pc Okay maybe in volume the League beat H 17 but I'll wager you're including Reproduction and Travelogue both with Ware and Craig Marsh. Let's not forget the sales they racked up as BEF. Got massive stars working with them. Sandi Shaw Paul Jones Paula Yates Billy McKenzie Mr Glitter (let's not go there) and Tina Turner. I think they actually went on to produce Tina's Private Dancer. None of this matters really. Glen Gregory did a more than passable cover of Club Party Fears Too recorded by The Associates fronted by Billy McKenzie. A very troubled soul who committed suicide in his garden shed. Music is for listening to and enjoying. It's not all about sales. The great Buddy Rich probably one of the best drummers ever did what is referred to on You Tube as his impossible drum solo gets slated by sad gits with comments such as 'Too much snare drum'. I was a pretty fair drummer in my day but couldn't come close to Buddy. I think such comments are born out of jealousy. I'd love to see anyone else try and recreate it dressed in a 3 piece suit with collar and tie. I love a lot of different musical styles and Will listen to anything at least once. At least I can make an educated decision as to why or not I like something. Surely that's what music is all about. That said I'm seeing Joe Jackson this Thursday. He's doing a decent tour of the UK combining his own material with that of a Music Hall artist whom was never heard of after 1914. He was probably killed in WW1. I've never heard any of this chap's material and quite honestly can't wait. Keep well and stay safe. We all think COVID has gone but my sister tested positive several weeks ago. She's fine now. Best wishes.

I don't like Glen at all singing Being Boiled. Philip still does it in The Human League sets and it's the only voice that should be sining it. The End. And why are the woman even singing on this, it never featured female backing vocals!

Prefer the original, but the whole point of doing a cover is to bring your own interpretation to it. Sometimes it’s better, and sometimes not.

The Synthesizer has a brass tune, but HL Mark 1 Had No brass. Female Vocals were maybe never featured, in the original Being Boiled, because there were only male members. Glenn would be the original HL Mark 1 Singer, If he Had Not left Sheffield for carrier and fortune. There are many Tracks of HL Mark 1 without vocals. The HL Mark 1 and Heaven 17 were Avantgarde because of Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh. Maybe Phil should have not sung about misunderstood Indian Religion, maybe He should have sung about the dream becoming a Male Donna Summer, singing i am only human, without paying more then he earned to very Business Like American Producers and Songwriters. HL Mark 1 was according to David Bowie the Future of Music. HL Mark 2, or what industry and Mr. Oakey Made out of it, was a Big Mac Meal comparable to a Star Cuisine Menu.

It's called 'artistic licence'. It's the realm of artistes performing covers.

@@faradayfelix seeing as Martin Ware (the guy in the hat) co wrote this tune its hardly a cover version. And as he co wrote it he can arrange it how he likes I guess.
