What a blessing these audio book readings are. I fall asleep when I tried to read. (This is something new. I never fall asleep reading until recently.) So, to have these books read to me is a blessing . I wanted to read Moody's sermons. Heaven, my true home! I seek Christ each day. Some days it's easier than others. I wake up to Moody's audio books to give me the reading of God's Word, which I can't read for myself. It keeps me close to my Christ Jesus . And I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends (my grandbaby) in heaven, my true and final home. I have a grandbaby and nieces and nephews who never got to take one breathe of this world; abortions, and miscarriage. I will continue to live this life and keep telling people about our Lord Jesus Christ and tell them about the choice they have. It's not all hopeless! If we dont have the longing for Him here. Then how will our hearts be in heaven where all things rightly priese Him? So we must ask Jesus for this. A heart to love Him, for Him alone. The battle here is only to keap our heart this way and asking God to keap it that way wholey hungering and thrusting for Him. The rest, all the rest, comes from this. Every good work comes from this, every victory comes from this. We do what He says because we love Him we love Him because He does the work Why because He loved us first.

The bible DOES NOT teach that when people die, they go straight to heaven. They are resting in the grave until Christ returns and resurrects the dead in Him😊

Is there any scriptural support for the idea that we will actually be reunited with loved ones in heaven, or that we will be able to recognize people we knew here? This author takes that as a given as do many folks, but is there evidence of that in scripture? I am thinking of Matthew 22:23-34 where Jesus tells the Sadducees that we will not marry but will be like the angels in heaven, and if I'm reading that passage correctly, he says they should have already known this from the OT scriptures as well as the truth about the resurrection. That second thing he gives evidence for ("I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob") but does not specify where in the scriptures it said we'd not be married. So I guess this is two questions, first is there any scriptural support for us being reunited with loved ones and second where in the OT does it say we will be like the angels in heaven/not marry or procreate. These two are only tangentially related; I suppose Christ's word to the Sadducees that we won't marry makes me wonder what else we take for granted here could be different there. Sorry for rambling and thanks to anyone who has an answer.

I don't think they can, unless they believe in and follow Jesus. That is the sad truth, and why we must warn them now, while they are still alive (for those who are). _And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment_ (Hebrews 9:27)

This is why I find thinking of Heaven as a place where we remember/recognize people is discouraging and for many people would not represent a joy or comfort. I know personally the people I've cared for who have died almost certainly didn't make it. I don't have scripture to support the idea, but I hope if I get there myself, I can't remember any of those people ever existed. If I can I probably wont know anyone who's there. I prefer not to think about it so I stopped listening to this book. I was hoping that this would give me encouragement but it does not.

@@petermazurkiewicz5465 Those who rebel against the Lord, who won't have anything to do with Him now, also won't have anything to do with Him in eternity. That is simply the truth, but to not embrace the truth is not loving, as unless we warn our loved ones that they must take up their cross and follow Jesus, we are enabling them to continue in their destructive lifestyles. Only the truth sets people free. So love and warn, teach and instruct with love, about what the scriptures say to us, as now is the time for everyone to repent. Eventually it will be too late for all, unless they repent while alive.

@@jeremiahzeiset Understood. Not disputing that, but it's very saddening, discouraging, and doesn't help me to stay on the right path. So it's better for me to not think about too deeply. Bone of my biggest struggles is perceiving God as loving. I try my best intellectually to accept it as truth rather than to try and figure it out. So this line of thought regarding loved ones only feeds that part of myself. So for me it's probably left alone. I try my best to talk to people I know about Jesus, but being so weak in my own faith and doubting if Im even saved, it's more likely I get sawyed from my position than sway someone from theirs. I've see-sawed so many times that my word has been rendered useless to people who have witnessed that.

I think you're right, Abiel. According to scripture, the dead will be resurrected at the return of Christ. The dead in Christ will be raised first, then those who remain. The majority of Christians think that when a Christian dies, they go straight to heaven, and I think most pastors think the same. It's a warmer, fuzzier feeling regarding our deceased loved ones, but not necessarily true. It's a error of ignorance though, I think, not a deliberate and particularly harmful error. It's important to remember that, and not condemn those who understand incorrectly, but perhaps lovingly instruct them. Many also think there will be a rapture, but scripture doesn't support three comings of Christ, and that is another error that is probably graver.

Jeremiah Zeiset I remember speaking about it with someone. They said to me my loved one died but he is in heaven now. It was almost impossible for me to correct the error, although the feeling of joy should still be the same, for we will al rise and see our lord is the first we see.

When a person dies, if he or she is a believer, his or her spirit goes immediately to be with Christ. The body stays here on earth. When Christ returns, our bodies will made new and reunited with our spirits to live eternally on the New Earth. Read Revelation, among other scriptures, for details. Diane in North Carolina

To be absent from the body,is to be present with The LORD.When Stephen was being stoned,his eyes were opened to see heaven.Even Lazurus and the rich man,paradise....only our bodies are here to be resurrected,our soul goes to be with the LORD.Heard preaching that those in paradise, went to be in heaven when JESUS died and was resurrected.The rapture,the dead in Christ,is taught that their bodies are taken up to be United with their souls.Jesus died,was seen after His resurrection,to be touched and handled.This is probably what we will go through,bodies able to be in heaven and on earth during the millinium(?).Worth a lengthy bible study,to be a Berean and search the scriptures daily,may be the only way other than being filled with THE HOLY SPIRIT,not to be decieved.

He is coming back as a king, and will reign. Jesus said he and the father are one. _Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed._ God and Jesus have the same spirit, the same holiness, and the same expectations for us. God, in his mercy, offered life to the people in the OT, and does the same in the NT, through faith. He wants us to turn to Him with our whole hearts and lives, and is willing to forgive, as long as we aren't trying to be double-minded. We are his, bought with a price.

This book isn't about heaven. It's about the New Jerusalem, which will be placed on a new Earth. Moody seems to have confused his terminology. If you don't know what I mean, just look up the verses he cites.

heaven is where ever God is. Moody was emphasizing being with God. Focus. See his larger message not the theology which you are seeking to over ride what is being shared. I doubt that he would argue with you if he were here.

The Bible is a good guide, but is not 100% true! Question everything yourself! I have always believed & followed God & Jesus but much of religion is used as a business! You can pray anywhere anytime, also God is not wrathful 👍 love you all 🙏🙏🙏

But, how do you know that the Bible isn't 100% true? What makes you say that there is not a judgment coming for all of humanity? Jesus believed it. If we can't believe Jesus, who can we believe?

@@jeremiahzeiset My friend, the reason the bible is not true is because people make it that way. Think about it? Unless you've researched the origins of the bible how would anyone know what it is? Is it because others say it is or is it what the bible says it is? The bible actually is a book of books created by a pope who murdered and found a way to be saved, and then God chose a gay man to compile the book most people know as KJV. I'm not trying to be offensive because it was difficult for me to grasp when I first encountered this seemingly offensive idea. If one were to look into this they would find Zoroastrianism and many other ancient religions spoke of the same seemingly terrible god who destroys. Yet, when you read that of the NT you find a mixture of mythology at play and actually that is where all people disagree about their religions and their ideas to divide Christianity into different sects thinking one is more likely to be blessed by God, than the other. But God is not partial. Man is partial and actually acts as Isaiah, or Jesus said, "I beheld satan fall from heaven". You are right, people need to believe what Jesus said, not others who are lost say. Jesus told everyone the kingdom is within. Heaven is a state of mind, not a place. I Praise the man who came in the name of Christ to show me the way. Others should also.

I think Moody's focus was on encouraging believers to live for the day we will be in heaven, not as much focusing on the timeframe of when we'll be with him. I do think for the sake of comforting others, many say things such as "at least he is with Jesus now" when scripture seems to indicate that we must wait until Christ returns, as you said.
