Shane is awesome, I can't wait to see him when he is near Detroit. God used him to save me from bitterness after a toxic church upbrining, and I sure hope I can get a second to connect with him.

First of all I just want to say this is very thought provoking. I loved the challenge to bring heaven here on earth and live in this way. I loved the challenge of making sure we would be comfortable in heaven so examine our own racisms, identity, etc Just a question in regards to his theory on hell. How does this fit in with his theology? Revelation 21:8 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Interesting, Shane Willard never preaches on the rapture and the second coming, and he went around and around and didn't answer about heaven being real. Very interesting.

Oh, I heard him say a direct yes about Heaven/Hell being real but then went further into it and talked about what else it also means

@@Andyice so, did he actually answer? It would be so good to hear his teaching on these subjects. It seems that the churches don't teach about it anymore. It's more of a Ted Talk during the church services. I say this with a desire for learning and not judging.

@@dma79 thanks for your feedback. I can tell you from personally knowing Shane that he affirms the existence of heaven. However in this conversation we also explore some of the given assumptions and preconceived ideas around what Heaven is actually like. We also explore the proclamation Jesus makes time and time again, to focus more on bringing Heaven (or the Kingdom of God) here to earth ("your kingdom come your will be done on earth as is it is heaven"). From the context of the conversation I believe it's clear to see this. And please also see time stamp 33:52 for a clear answer to the question, 'does Hell exist?'. This is a podcast style formate, not a sermon, so naturally the feel of the conversation is more akin to a Ted Talk.

Are these teachings still relevant to you, or is there something else that's more meaningful to your spiritual life these days?
