9:33 - That part where Professor Einstein began laughing and crying out "Light!" made me cry so much....such a simple but wonderful scene.

This is one thought provoking episode. Most always are. But...this gave me more pause.

When I first saw this episode I wondered why the screenwriters added the line "If your son's DNA comes entirely from Einstein's, he will be Jewish." Because it seems like it's supposed to be the big revelation that causes all of Sarah's arguments to fall apart while in reality, it doesn't make sense because it's your conversion that makes you Jewish, not your DNA. If the child with Einstein's DNA were raised in a Christmas-celebrating home, he would naturally celebrate Christmas too. But then, Sarah says "I didn't think of that. I CAN'T THINK OF EVERYTHING!" And Monica says, "Even a genius like Einstein couldn't. For him it was too late but you still have time." So that line actually does serve a purpose--to show the finite nature of angels. Even Monica can't think of everything either. After all, she's not God; she's just his messenger. As Aslan put it in The Chronicles of Narnia "No one is ever told what would have happened." Nevertheless, she gets her point across to Sarah: whatever you create, invent or discover and share with the rest of the world, you are responsible for, because you're setting a precedent for good or ill.

Aren't people from Jerusalem or of descent also called Jewish? I think that's what they meant when they said the child would be Jewish.

Wasn't it really distasteful that the argument that convinces this woman is... that her child would be Jewish (at least, genetically?) -- WHAT is wrong with THAT? OMG, this message is terrible. And yes of course you are correct -- Judaism is more than just genetics... it can be inculcated via religious practices, etc. You are correct that this child, if raised in a Christian home, would be Christian. I mean -- what the heck is happening in this show?

Revelation 20:11-15 11 Then I saw a great white throne and the One Who was seated upon it, from Whose presence and from the sight of Whose face earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 I [also] saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done [their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] in accordance with what was recorded in the books. 13 And the sea delivered up the dead who were in it, death and Hades (the state of death or disembodied existence) surrendered the dead in them, and all were tried and their cases determined by what they had done [according to their motives, aims, and works]. 14 Then death and Hades (the state of death or disembodied existence) were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s [name] was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire.

Sorry but isn't it anti-Semitic to not want to have a baby once she realizes it will be "Jewish" (genetically, at least?) And if this is trying to say that IVF is bad, I'm sorry but I know MANY families for whom IVF itself has been a blessing and a miracle that has allowed them to bring wonderful children into the world. Usually this show is terrific, but if the idea is "Welp, I'm going to destroy this fetus because IT MIGHT BE JEWISH" is a terrible, terrible take? WTF?

Jewish isn't just a religious belief. It's also a race as well.
@Dreamerwild2 жыл бұрын
@@justin5318 More of an ethnicity than a race. Nothing about ones genes ties one to a particular religious practice. The fact that a hypothetical Einstein clone would have genetics in common with Eastern Europeans who historically practiced Rabbianic Judaism does not mean they could not celebrate Christmas, convert to a different religion, or give up religious practice altogether if they so choose.

This show was cute and beautiful but I didn't agree with everything it said about this and that.
