I would also mention that the endurance you cultivate towards striking does not transfer over well to grappling or submissions work. If striking feels like a calisthenics session, grappling feels like endurance swimming. cultivating these different types of stamina is very useful for MMA training.

Thanks for the great video. I bought the book "Functional Training and Beyond" and I've started reading it. I'm a big fan of the KZbin channel The Bioneer. I'm wondering if a video could be made on Human Longevity that includes the right exercise program and the right diet program? A video on how anyone can live as long as possible, I would think using joint friendly exercises to strengthen the cardiorespiratory system, muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones as well as I would think following a plant-based diet. I think on record, the oldest person to have ever lived was a woman from France that made it until 122 years old. Would it be possible to live longer? Thank you for all the hard work to bring us a lot of useful information.

Great video! Honestly, the first good bagwork video I've seen that actually explains all the different mental and physical zones of training used on the bag. So many kickboxing gyms I've gone to that just don't understand basic bagwork and they just teach people to wail on them and burn themselves out. The bag has so many uses but people dont think they just follow what they know or see. The hardest part about bag work for me, is foot work around an unmoving object. I just feel awkward as hell practicing my triangulation and counter strikes on bob because he's so lifeless.

If you're not a beginner and you're pushing yourself til you get sore, you're going too hard. After a few weeks of exercise you should be getting used to it so you don't get sore. It's more about the overall weekly volume for training that is the important bit.

@@ryanpayton3812 totally agreed, I have been trained in wing chun for 10 years, now I'm getting into full time boxing, I am finding they compliment each other beautifully, application is only limited by one's understanding of the movements , my wing chun isn't broken and nor would I consider boxing trying to fix it, martial arts all share a commonality that enhances you as a artist !

I worked out the other kicks through trial and error, but front kicks either barely connect or make the bag flop all over the place. Should I wear shoes (and gloves for that matter)? I would love a video on how to hold pads and hit pads, also when starting out is it better to just practice the martial art/sport for conditioning until you develop consistency for 30-90day then add in other training modalities or should I start trying to follow a modified pro athletes plan?
@maxhooymans37513 жыл бұрын
Personally I think its better to practice the actual sport for however long you need to until you feel comfortable enough to start learning the more complicated things and you don't want to overwhelm yourself by doing a pro athletes routine. I have been doing boxing for about 4-5 years and when I first started I spent a lot of time working on conditioning and technique before getting into the complicated stuff. Also if you are just starting out on the pads make sure to completely focus on technique and accuracy instead of power.
