Revolutionary France 🥖 is so much better on maps with Fish and Whales, as Fishing Boats 🎣⛵ are unaffected by the downside of Sansculottes being bad at gathering (especially from agricultural buildings). The revolution is a bit awkward, as you want to do it early for the fast producing Sansculottes and the Factory 🏭 shipments. But you also want to do it late to get more cards and because its effects are naturally better in the late game. The weirdest thing about it is how just rushing Napoleonic Era is usually the best course of action. Since the units it unlocks do not require unit upgrades, making for good tempo. Also, the Church card (Edict of Nantes) it sends for free is pretty good as the units it ships are under-costed Consulate units and Grenadiers are naturally good in the late game where area of effect, tankiness, and anti-building effects are very important.

It also gets the upgrades for Grenediers for free (so incendiary grenades (from mid guard) benefit the charged ability of the foot carbineer). So great synergy from every aspect

Yabusame aren't enough against heavy artillery (or mass artillery) and Flaming arrows have to little range to deal enough damage to them until their imperial upgrade before getting destroyed. Japan just struggles against heavy and mass artillery in general, they need to get the extra range with the Age IV upgrade or Veteran Battery.

They should probably give Japan the Meji Restoration revolt instead and make it good. Also, to deal with the hunt 🦌 thing: • Start with an extra Rice Paddy as well. Non-Imperial Rice Paddy upgrades can be researched in any Age. • Villager shipments removed • Flooded parcel and Reclaimed Land get the ability to be sent twice • Holy Refuge and Advanced Rice Paddy gain the ability to be sent twice (stacking multiplicatively). Holy Refuge increases Monastery build limit by 1 each time. • Advanced Wonders gains the ability to be sent twice. • Cherry Orchard shipments become infinite • Sohei Archers can heal without Reiki and Reiki replaced with Zen Gardens: Wonders gain a build xp and buildings have +50% build xp. • Intonjutsu Stealth also gives heroes and villagers +30% hit points. • Shrines can no longer be set to autogather wood or coin and gather rate reduces to 0.1 food per second.

@@UniDocs_Mahapushpa_Cyavana Meji Restauration shouldn't even be a revolt like for Euro civs, it shouldn't replace the deck imo, but change the unit roster along with homecity cards kinda like British rangers work with The Glorious Revolution that changes Yeomen to Baker rifles and changes the shipments to the new unit.

I find it weird how many players don't want to use cav against artillery. If someone is making half a dozen heavy cannons surely cav would be worth making solely because the arty will be so much worse against it.

Not only mass art beats cav, you need a lot of it to (try to ) take down artilery so it won´t be pop efficient neither would it be resource efficient. Cav is good vs small amouts of art so that it can change into other units later, but vs mass art that is easily killing it and can also be defended? Yeah make culvs, flaming arrows, arrow knights or huaracas (aka any anti art unit besides cav)

I absolutely agree. Cav can tank shots instead of infantry, and forces the enemy to consantly surround the cannons, making its advance much more slow and prone to mistakes.

@@ignasigarces1049 Against lower amounts of arty yes, but it doesn't work against mass heavy artillery and even if you get through, the few cav that manage won't be able to do enough damage to deal with them. That's why all natives except Haude and Asians struggle against mass heavy artillery they don't have their own heavy artillery or Culverins to counter them.
