living in the southern United States, i recently purchased my first Mora, a carbon steel Garberg. I absolutely love it! Very sharp, great finish quality, I'll be using it a lot!! Jag bor i södra USA och köpte nyligen min första Mora, en Garberg i kolstål. Jag fullkomligt älskar det! Mycket skarp, bra finish, jag kommer att använda den mycket!!

I have had more than 200 knives and axes during my 35 years of collecting. From K-bar to Aitor Chuchillo de Monte, from Al-Mar to Bark River, I have owned at least 1 knife from all the top knives manufacturers in the world. I had many fancy knives that cost over $300USD and they were not that better of any Mora knives. Yes they have better handle/scale material however when it comes to function and getting your money worth, nothing comes close to Mora. I have sold all of my collection and have only kept 7: 1. Victorinox Swiss army knife(pocket knife) - home duties 2. Mora Outdoor 2000 - processing animal/fish/food 3. Mora Eldris - EDC 4. Condor Low Drag - camp knife, batonning, chopping firewood, felling small trees. 5. Tramontona 18in machete - clearing trails, felling small tree 6. Fiskars X25 - splitting logs 7. Hults Bruks Agdor Montreal pattern - felling medium trees.

May I also add that fancy steel is totally unnecessary. Knives will be blunt and chipped and rolled after hard use no matter how strong the steel. A Knife is a tool just like a hammer. It’s not painting you hang on your wall. There is no need to spend over $$100USD on any knife and axe. None of my current collection cost me over $100

The Mora 2000 is my favourite outdoors knife ever. I hade a period ten years ago “the knife period” where I bought all the fancy knives like Bark River and Fällkniven. But I sold them all because the Mora 2000 was just a better knife when it comes to function. Much lighter, with a more packable sheath and it cuts better than any of those expensive blades. Stainless is practical and the 12c27 tempered by Mora is much easier to sharpen than S30V or 154CM and whatever else I had. Carbon steels like in Bark River was easy to sharpen but not stainless. This means that hand to heart the 2000 was just the best knife. I think so many in the knife community gets lost in consumerism and obsess over steels. Something which is totally meaningless in when hiking. It’s important to be able to easily maintain an edge - not how many meters of cardboard I can cut (and who in their right mind would use an expensive knife for processing cardboard! Lol) I love the Kansbol and Eldris. The Garberg sucks because it has a stupid thick edge that doesn’t cut as well and is too heavy to carry. Between the Kansbol and 2000 it’s a tough one. I like the sharpened spine for fire starting but I think I prefer the more ergonomic 2000 for not tearing up my thumb while using the knife hard. The 2000 is also more comfortable in reverse grip because it doesn’t have that butt like the Kansbol that digs into your palm. With hands covered in fish slime the 2000 is more safe in the hand. I also speculate that the 2000 is more hygienic because its mirror finish on the blade makes it easier to clean than the satin finished Kansbol. Do you know whether the Swedish army is planning on switching to the Kansbol? Its standard green colour would give a clue to this. The Mora 2000 has been Swedish soldier standard issue knife since the 90’s and I saw a photo of some Swedish army rangers with the 2000 on their belts as late as December 2022. I like the detail that the Kansbol is available in green (army) red (classic mora) and orange (all mora knives issued to civil defence and televerket during Cold War times where that colour orange). So the Kansbol colour palette of green/red/orange has a history in Sweden.

You got a lot off valid points there! I don’t know if the Army at planing to switch to Kansbol but in my opinion it would be a good choice. As I remember we where issued “standard” moras when I did my military service in the beginning/middle of the nineties but they maybe changed it to 2000 later on!

Thanks so much for the knife presentation and demonstration! Love your country's beauty and scenery. Forgive me, i don't speak Swedish, only English. God bless from the United States. Tack så mycket för knivpresentationen och demonstrationen! Älska ditt lands skönhet och landskap. Förlåt mig, jag pratar inte svenska, bara engelska. Gud välsigne från USA.

The 2000 has a longer and better hidden tang. I'll stay with the 2000 and wish I had another one. No actual outdoorsman wants a sharp spine on a knife. Thanks for your video and all the best.

Det finns även en bushcraft-modell med flåslipning; Morakniv Bushcraft Forest (kan även heta Green). Jag föredrar bushcraft-handtagen då de har fingervärn & bra gummering.
@HeavyMetalHiking2 жыл бұрын
Ja, så är det nog på originalet med det tunna bladet. Såg det faktiskt på någon video i helgen och blev lite förvånad. Har själv Bushcraft black och den har ju ett mer traditionellt men kraftigare blad.

What's your thoughts about different tang notches at 6:34 ? Looks like, Mora 2000 got a stronger tang than Kansbol.
@HeavyMetalHiking Жыл бұрын
Yes, there is slightly more material in the 2000 tang, but on the other hand I guess that the attatchment to the molded handle is better on the Kansbol. Since those knives aren't intended for REALLY hard use i think that the differences are insignificant, but if your'e going for the strongest one, I think you should go for the 2000.
