I mean, it's starting to add up. My "adventure" van was pretty much toasted about when where Kyle's was before the roof rack. And i mean, the old T4's aren't powerhouses, but aren't weak soup either. So he has to do something about the engine + power train. That's gonna be nice to see. The Asstro is turning into something cool, one project at a time.

Actually that Vortec 4.3 L V6 has a tow capacity of 5,000 lb and is one of gems longest running engines that they use in their vehicles they even have a newer version of it

Things I would love to see on Kyle's van: 1. More lights! Fog lamps up front, and more back up lights in the rear for night trailer connections and tail gating / beach parties 2. Posi in the rearend! Clutch or e locker 3. Front skid plate, and gas tank skid plate. 4. Snorkel intake for water / offroad adventures with Scotto and Vinny. 5. Step bars / rocker panel sliders 6. Tow hitch mounted beach bbq grill/ cooking station

seeing his board made me think about my old board back in the late 70's I had a Maui board and I loved that damn thing it would get up on a pond. in Florida we don't get the waves they do in California but 3 or 4 times a year they get big. I had set it out after a day at the beach and when I went to get it it was gone I never saw it again .the kid who stole it probable stuffed it under his house and for got about it .it still chaps my ass the board was rare in the 70's and now the vintage ones are impossible to find.

Looks great in 2024. I have my headliner off on my 03 Safari Cargo van and I can see about 4 strong horizontal structural pieces attached to the ceiling. Im thinking maybe it could be a stronger build next time if you drill from inside the van thru the metal in the heavy solid structural pieces where the 4 anchors will be and then build the frame to attach to these specific locations. Because from what I see, the rack just screwed or was attached thru the very flimsy sheet metal of roof. Otherwise it looks really great and does the job for the surf boards.

First, you should swap the hardware for the ones that Suppy supplied for the rack. Then maybe some rock sliders? Super bright reverse spotlights...Garrett turbo and intercooler, external oil cooler, and catch can.

The factory rack is mounted to the frame but it looks like you didn't mount it where the frames are (the holes in the roof are from where the factory rack was mounted) - Hope it all works out but am thinking you might get some denting - How's it working out?
