AOTY 2002 for me: Mastodon 'Remission' Changed the whole way, I perceive metal drumming, and instantly made Brann Dailor one of my favorite drummers.. 👌 Great episode, guys! 👍

Yob - Elaborations Of Carbon is going to be my favorite of 2002. They were still unknown and played a small dive bar in Seattle. They blew the minds of everyone there. Thanks for the great show!!

Great show guys, it was great to have such a variety (Metal, Punk, Hardcore) of music. Keep it going guys. My favorit of 2002: Dead Soul Tribe - Dead Soul Tribe. Devon Graves followup to Psychotic Walz, a total banger.

When I worked at a Toys R Us, the janitor was telling me stories of the weird stuff he found in the bathrooms. He said the worst of the worst was always in the women's room. One woman had a blowout all over the toilet, wall and divider.

My pick of the year has to be Pain of Salvation's Remedy Lane. Hot on its heels was Meshuggah's Nothing and a bit further down the stretch Opeth's Deliverance. All absolute bangers from Sweden.

There are definitely several albums I love from 2002 that it could have been. Wish it could be some super obscure album that got me tons of street cred. But sludge/post metal was all the rage at the time in my circle. I gotta go with Isis - Oceanic. It just wouldn't feel right not to pick it. Looking back on how obsessed I was with it. Hope my entry isn't too late. I never miss a show, even if I have to watch later on. Cheers!

Someone else already mentioned it, but Elaborations of Carbon by Yob would be my retroactive top pick for 2002. Even in their early days, Mike and co. already had their beastly and enormous sound sorted out in a way most bands take a few tries to get.

Look away now, Professor Steele, but my 2002 favourite is Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera. Yes, it is a big change even from Nightfall, but I think they execute it so well, and I've been enjoying this album since I was a kid basically.

Looking back at 2002 (all genres) I couldn't come up with many notable releases. There is just a void in this year for me as I was only 5 years old at the time and didn't really start deep diving into metal until the pandemic. In high school I loved Believe by Disturbed (and still do), but now my favorite metal album of 2002 would probably be Nordland I by Bathory.

My favourite album of 2002 is Porcupine Tree - In Absentia, just slightly edging out Dead Sout Tribe's ST debut and a complete non-metal album, Timeloss by swedish band Paatos.
My favorite album of 2002 would have to be Dio- Killing the Dragon
