I love that we can see your list! What an adventure during Fred! Am glad it was nothing more than heavy rain and squall conditions. Trust me, seeing and hearing greater than 100 mph winds is something to never forget like it did in Southwest Florida during Hurricane Irma. It made me wonder if your trip home from the blow didn't encounter tree falls on the way home. With such rain in WV the roads would be blocked with downed trees with mudslides, some impassible. Had you gotten much more rain some Creeks would flood the roads. So you are a lucky guy!

Yes the sound of rain is very relaxing kemosabe. I live in a small camping trailer in the Tonto Forest of Arizona. It had been raining for several days and I had just woken up to use the bathroom. I immediately noticed a spectacular waterfall coming out of the ceiling light fixture. I did a quick mental check to make sure I hadn't done any acid, and grabbed a handy 5 gal. bucket. The rain stopped before the bucket filled everything was cool. When the sun came out I got busy with a caulking gun and a paintbrush. I still love the sound of rain but it makes me nervous. What I really love is thunder and lightning.

I'm from south Louisiana and I can honestly tell ya anything food related that are premade and cajun, creole,and or acadiana stay away from because it will be worse than 2nd rate dog food however you get it home made from the lil old cajun lady or creole its 2nd to none. We had a 100 year storm here 5 years ago that dumped 8 inches of rain in 6 hours and it wiped out my culvert and access road . Cost me 17,000 bucks to fix . I thought about how to keep it from happening again and built huge coffer dam below my culvert .2 months ago we had another 100 year storm and had 5.6 inches in 3 hours . My fix worked and the water running through my culvert hit the dam and shot it up 2 feet in the air slowing the flow and no damage . My neighbors didn't do anything got hammered again . Funny how they all want to know what and how I did it :) Hello from Wisconsin !

Just had Ida stop by our house and dropped 4.25 inches of heavy rain. We had no problems here, but up the coast was pretty bad in MD PA NY CT NJ they had up to 11 inches. Ugh. That kind of rainfall can take down healthy trees, just from the excessive moisture. As I’m typing this I’m looking out the window into the woods on my property at a white oak that came down a few weeks ago. Just be careful out there folks. On a related note I’ve known TWO people killed by falling branches - and in both cases they were just on regular paved greenways. One of them was out walking with a Hurricane approaching, just wanted to get in some exercise before the proper storm hit. Just awful. The other was on a nice day. Elderly lady who lived her whole life in peace in Selma, NC and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Be safe everyone!

Yellow jackets are no joke. I found out the hard way that I was allergic. I almost didn’t make it to the hospital. I almost didn’t make it to the ambulance. I hope to never go through that again. Best that you were cautious and moved out. Especially with being there alone. ❤️

Louisiana cuisine is amazing. We live in Cajun Country, in Southwest Louisiana and the food is delicious. I make gumbo every so often and it's like a chicken stew, with onions, bell pepper, celery and added garlic. A.K.A. the trinity + Very good. We also like to add some hot Cajun sausage to the gumbo. Serve over rice. So good. My husband likes to make Chicken and sausage (again, it's hot sausage) jambalaya. We love it. It's a Cajun mix and we'll eat it for days, for both dishes. Then, there is crawfish -- boiled, smothered, cornbread. The crawfish cornbread is so good. The food in Southern Louisiana is out of this world good.

Unfortunately as you're finding out those culverts are too small for maintenance purposes..typically minimum 18" would be specified solely for maintenance purposes first, then larger, if needed for hydraulic capacity by the engineer. Most of those leaves and smaller debris would wash through an 18" dia culvert, providing easier maintenance.

That gumbo packaging showed a highlighted section of Downeast Maine - hardly gumbo country! I had water flowing just like that under my hammock and tarp once. I had to tie my shoes up on the hammock line under the tarp to keep them from floating away. Real heavy rain favors the use of a hammock and big tarp.

I have been watching a lot of your videos. I am not a big commenter, but I am originally from South Louisiana and I cannot imagine eating freeze dried Gumbo. Gumbo is a stew, you can add seafood, okra (as you had) chicken, sausage. It's really good when made yourself. If you ever want to know how to make it, it's super easy. Just ask and you shall receive as they say lol. PS Post 10 would be proud Lol (another youtuber who clears culverts)

If you can find the room to pack a spray bottle, mix some dish soap with water and it will take care of your bee problems. It kills them quickly & spraying the nest will take care of any that return. Dish soap also works for yellow jacket nests that are underground. Just pour it in & around the tunnel holes & problem solved.

This is one time I question your priorities. The worst that could have happened on the mountain was trees down & localized flooding. Meanwhile at home, you've left your wife and father to deal with the possibility of more serious damages that might benefit from immediate responses. Not saying they're helpless, but an added set of hands & legs & rational thinking never hurts when shtf. People first, property second.

#!: Parking in the middle of the road & setting up.....do you have a gate or something to control/limit access to the road so other vehicles won't drive up the road? #2: That Aquaquest Guide tarp is their lightweight tarp. Gotta give 2 thumbs up for the rain shedding ability of their cheapest & least expensive tarp to do its job during heavy, heavy rain/wind. This could well be one of AquaQuest's finest recommendations. #3; Good on you that you mentioned having an Epi-Pen with you. I carry one with me when hiking, it's part of my First Aid kit. #4: Good on you for doing all that work to create gutters & installing culverts on the road B4 they were needed. Sadly South Lake Tahoe had to evacuate because of the impending danger of the ever growing Caldor wildfire.
