I really dig your channel as a vinyl collector and a Zep fan i wanted to lay down a story for you 10 years ago it was a hot summer eve i had the pleasure of meeting Thee Robert Plant no shit i went out to catch a break from the kitchen heat and there he was i said to myself this must be a look a like. So i just had to have the balls to ask the question and sure enough it was him it was all low key know one else on the street knew it seems he was on holiday and wanted to see a new england sea side village Lucky Me

I heard that they named the band after a stripper who’s stage name was Alex is on fire
@jeremybarber7660
@jeremybarber7660 Жыл бұрын
To clarify: It’s Alexis-on-fire. Also, it’s not a stripper, but an erotic contortionist! EDIT: And, while we’re at it, I’ll put this to you… Not long after that first Alexisonfire record, around the time of Underoath’s “Define the Great Line”, a little band from Saskatchewan called “The Holly Springs Disaster” put out a banger of an EP titled “Motion Sickness Love”. It’s a heavy, riff-forward, southern rock influenced metalcore record. Kind of like He Is Legend but a bit dirtier. The local kids loved that band and that EP did more than it had any business doing, but the band kind of imploded before they took off, which they almost certainly would have. There’s a documentary about the band and everything. Anyway, that EP was put out on vinyl (short run, 500?) by the label Underground Operations, which for a time also played host to Protest the Hero, a prog-metal band I happen to count as a credit to Canada’s contribution to heavy music. In any event, if you can look past the somewhat misguided hormone-soaked early-20s childishness of the lyrics, that EP rips and is worth a listen. And, if you find it on vinyl, please let me buy it from you hahahaha.

Just listened to Jackson C Franks, 'Blues Run the Game', wow, love it, his voice is cool, - sad tale though, turns out he ended up homeless and got shot in the eye by some louts, his son died of cystic fibrosis, oh my. But I want to get that 1965 LP for sure.

I found an old (not first press but close) Bach / Starker at a record shop a couple months ago. It was outside. I asked the guy "how much are the records outside today?" and he said "free" - game on - I saw the Bach box set when I first got there and thought that can't be what I think it is because they're expensive and a record shop employee/owner would know that and put it to the back of my mind. I grabbed a big stack of really clean jazz and some obscure LPs. I left with a stack of really great stuff. Right around midnight that night I was falling asleep in front of my computer and I realized that I never grabbed the Bach and I went to Discogs to make sure it was what I thought it was ($$$). I had my shoes on in about thirty seconds and I was out the door. Fortunately the record shop is only about 15 minutes away and there was zero traffic, literally, nobody on the (foggy) road like something out of the Twilight Zone. The box set was still outside and I grabbed it and didn't look back. The records are close to NM.

The heat continues. The Jackson C Frank would be highest on my list here. Never pressed outside of that first UK press. Paul Simon involved too. Good to know you have an 8track player setup. I dig seeing those which are seldom seen. Got a real bargain on that Norman Tanega a few months back. Super excellent and well recorded

I thought you already had a copy of Cargo? I swear you have shown it before? I never trust just a promo sticker anymore, anyone can just put it on there now and charge you three times what the record is worth. Soooo jealous of your copy of buffalo volcanic rock, I noticed you didn’t go into detail about the cover art 😅 Their ‘dead forever’ album is equally as good. Me and wife also have a child with autism and find it equally as hard to find a sitter who can stick around long enough for us to go out also. Not been out on a date night in a loooong time.
