I'd agree if you said you prefer stop-motion style, the way it looks and stuff, but being able to do more with stop-motion - no. It looks very limiting to me, actually. Lil example: let's say I need to animate a scene where a character runs, talks, and the camera follows him. Sounds like a very simple animation, but doing it frame by frame would be a giant pain - I'd have to change facial expression, move the ragdoll and the camera for every frame, and if I realize at some point the animation looks bad, I can't even edit it, can't easily go back and redo something (even SMH/HAT won't be a big help here). And I'd have to calculate the number of the frames so the lip sync would match. I've never tried SFM, but I think I could do all these actions separately with it: make a running animation 1st (or maybe use a pre-made one if there is one), then make lipsync, then adjust the camera. Sounds much easier, in theory at least.

napaceHbIK I use this little tool called Henrys Animation Tool. It basically is SFM inside Gmod :3 The more you know (Im not the best animator though)

Griffin Productions I know about this tool, I mentioned it in my comment. But 1st, it has messed up save system - you have to select every model to be saved, even the ones you don't need to animate, the weld gets broken and the cameras may fall on the floor after loading the save if I remember it right, and for me, loading the save doesn't even work half of the time, giving some script errors. And 2nd, the bad thing is it records the whole body pose. One time I had a finished animation and decided to edit the position of the ragdoll's leg; I moved the leg in the 1st frame and now I had to do the same in all other frames. I tried to move the leg as same as possible but failed, and in the end it looked shaking a bit when playing an animation, moving to random directions (while it was supposed to be stationary), cos its position was a bit different in every frame. Idk how SFM works here, but I hope it has different timelines or something for different parts of body. Or at least proper save system.

silver dragon's colonel You misunderstood me ; I meant with the quality of his animations USING GMOD, it'd be a shame he stopped using gmod and started using sfm ; His Gmod videos are very smooth and very detailed. I sometimes look at them in slow motion to be sure I notice everything, and that's the only videos where I do this. SFM is good, but the stop-motion on his gmod videos are so well done...

Yeah sfm is for more serious animations or story telling. Gmod is for more cartoony animations. But I've seen tf2 smexuals done in sfm so it's not limited to a certain style but it can't be cartoony like gmod. They both got qualities that make them special and I love both
