I personally LOVE that you interact with chat and sometimes think your turn out loud. For the latter, you do it succinctly and make a decision quickly, and the former keeps us (even though I rarely get to watch live) involved while people are thinking, which I really appreciate. I can't stand too much dead space. Thanks for all you've done for the board game community! Love the channel :)

Just picked this up in a BGG auction and was very happy to see this playthrough! It was a great teach, a great watch, and I look forward to a post-pandemic game night at my FLGS to give it a try. Thanks!

Thanks for the last bit on comparison with 1st edition, i really admire your honestly even though you know Clay who is a great guy. I remember the same thing in your Tramways review, you were honest with the rule book issues. Might grab a 1st edition copy of Lignum, always liked the idea of that Francis Drake market phase, but the rest of the game seemed a little light and i did not like the idea of playing the game 3 times without any connection between those 3 years.

Great playthrough again. I found it hard to follow the rules when I was watching live but I put that down to exhaustion. On watching again, the rules were extremely clear. This game has a ton of planning and things to keep track of but seems pretty simple overall. I love the player interaction and I also like the idea of keeping the area choice. Moving down the river style worker placement is one of my favorite (Egizia is the other one in that category I've played). Do you know of any other games in this genre? Also, what are your thoughts regarding variability? Low variability tends to be a deal breaker for me on most games. What changes game to game?

Played through the first year in a 2-player game. Boring, ugly, and committed to its theme to a fault.
