One of the best ways to get a festival experience without spending a fortune is........... start supporting the smaller independent festivals out there. There are many out there in all areas of the country. They are cheaper by far and the quality of the bands is just as good as many on the bigger line ups. The beer is cheaper, the vendors charge less (generally) as they are not being charged ridiculous pitch fees to prop up high production costs. These are the future of the grassroots scene and need the support more than ever (one tip though, NOT HRH events).

On the getting there option I've signed up to the car share thing which bloodstock have recommended. I have space in my car so it seemed a helpful idea!

we used to do like that, work for the festival. Had to spend a few hours to check that cars had the correct parking tickets. Totally worth it, cus we could go backstage with these ;) a bit envious of my bf tho, he was assigned to the gate that the bands entered through. Got to personally touch the plane Maiden decided to bring with them on stage Q_Q
