Hebrew Calligraphy demonstration - six alephs - קליגרפיה עברית

Demonstrating writing the letter Aleph in 6 Hebrew Calligraphy styles. Though I've written a book on the subject, thought it might be helpful to actually show the letters being written.
Note this is one way of writing these letters, not the only way of writing them. Each has many variations.

Ken, hi. The tool is a metal pen (not a brush) called a Coit Pen. You try this link. You can also look into Automatic ( the name of the company) Pens too. They might be easier to write with. The Coit Pen link: www.thegreatcalligraphycatalogue.com/acatalog/Coit_pen.html

May I ask what paper you are using? I find the non-bleed quality very attractive. Thank you.

Actually this is nothing more than regular photocopy paper. The quality on different photocopy papers varies widely. Some will bleed, some won't. But if you want a good non-bleed paper for practice that will also give sharp lines, try Borden and Riley #37. You can get from John Neal and other calligraphy suppliers.

It is called a Coit pen. You'll have to do a search for it as i got it years ago and i don't know if it is still available. You can also look for Automatic (that's the name of the company) Pens which are very good and maybe even easier to write with, and they are readily available in most calligraphy online shops. Anna, at the moment i cannot put up more videos. For the videos, I chose two letters that differ somewhat between the different styles. Heh and tav are quite similar among the styles and i don't think it would visually be that interesting. I do demonstrate all the making of strokes in different styles in my book, Mastering Hebrew Calligraphy, which can be purchased either through Amazon or directly through me.
