“Hag” in Hebrew means celebration, but also to turn, to turn in circles. Haggar was the mother of Ismael. Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca where people circle around Mecca 7 times and at the end of Hajj the celebration of sacrifice is celebrated. The Old Testament tells of Moses asking Pharaoh to practice hag with his people.

I was born a muslim and would not be able to understand and can only imagine the path of reverts. To be able to reject what one has learnt their whole life or in a way to cut what has been passed down from the parents is a very big step.
