So funny and enjoyable as always. Thank you for bringing joy in the learning process. One note on the reading: 'Asa did what was good and righteous in the eyes of YHWH his God' seems to be in 2 Chronicles 14:2 instead of 14:1 in English Bibles unlike BHS.

Thank you! We have several good editions, including a classic BHS edition with the critical apparatus, but find readers' editions that include glosses for rare vocabulary in footnotes to be very helpful. Two readers editions we know of: zondervanacademic.com/products/a-readers-hebrew-bible www.amazon.com/Biblia-Hebraica-Stuttgartensia-Readers-Hebrew/dp/1598567497 We have a copy of both of these. The Zondervan edition helpfully includes the Kethiv/Qere' readings in the main text itself, but does not include parsing information for verbs except for the binyan. The BHS Readers edition includes parsing information for verbs in footnotes (which I don't often make use of, since you have to memorize the code to use it efficiently). My main complaint is that it puts all the Qere' readings in footnotes, which I find a little inconvenient when reading.

@@AlephwithBeth I've found that putting the parsing code on a bookmark to be really helpful. I don't need to memorise the code this way as I always have the bookmark with me when I read my Hebrew Bible. I've found this has been much better for me than the zondervan reader's bible as parsing rare verb forms is the biggest difficulty for reading Hebrew.

Hi moreh, could you comment on how you guys decide when to introduce what in subsequent lessons. Is there a teaching manual you are following for example? Or is it inspirations from the Lord? For example, I thought the kaf-similarities lesson in 41 was appropriately introduced at the right time and place. Thanks. Just trying to learn the teaching philosophy and skill's of hamoreh hatov.
@AlephwithBeth
@AlephwithBeth 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremiah, I'm not following any existing manual or course, but rather deciding as I go what to introduce next based on how frequently it occurs in the biblical text and how well it flows with the lessons around it and provides opportunity for review of previous material. I try to alternate between lessons that focus on grammar and those that focus on vocabulary, with stories sprinkled in regularly. You can read more details about lesson planning on this page of our website here (under the "content" subheading) if you're interested: freehebrew.online/behind-the-scenes/

I’m sorry, but I can’t stop laughing because the differences in the figurative meanings between “ישר” in Hebrew, and “straight” in English feels really awkward for me as a native English speaker. Especially with the sentence: האיש אשר לא ישר איש רע Which literally translates to: a man who isn’t straight is a bad man. Which in english means something COMPLETELY different, and is quite offensive. But for some reason I can’t stop laughing about it.
