Ruth, so generous and kind of you to provide this information. Such a mitzvah! Todah raba!

Dear Ruth, Thank you for this video. I listen to podcasts a lot, so please allow me to add this: when following a podcast, one has to make sure s/he understands it. There are simple podcasts that even beginners can understand, but some are very difficult. Start listening, and if you cannot understand a word, leave it for later and go for something simpler. In addition to the basics, if you listen to a podcast with (for instance) political discussions, people talk very fast (Hebrew is their native language!), and the vocabulary is not easy. So, give yourself time to listen carefully and see if you can understand. If it is too difficult, let it. But sometimes, if you concentrate hard, you can understand. If this is the case, do not listen to the whole discussion. Listen for 10-20 minutes; Stop and take over until you understand the whole discussion. There are simpler podcasts - they are easier to understand. Yet, sometimes, you need to listen one or two more times. Take your time and do this. Finally, try to focus on following the conversation IN HEBREW and not translating everything into English. Consider the context when trying to understand. If you do this correctly, you will eventually understand better, and the experience is rewarding. A last thing: listen to things you are interested in. It is easier to concentrate on the language if you like the topic. I hope the little tips will help.

Where does one go for speaking and pronunciation? Does Plimseur actually correct pronunciation?

If you want to know how to pronounce a word, a great source is FORVO.com Pimsleur has a great interactive recording system where it tells you how close in percentage you are to the right pronunciation. It is pretty tough and can feel intimidating like a strict teacher 😅😅

I am answering you in English, so that all here can understand. I think this is important to know when you look for an ulpan in Israel: All ulpanim are super expensive. The prices are so exaggerated that I always recommend spending your moeny on private lessons and in an ulpan. If you want to get an idea, read the last page of my free ebook on Hebrew-Verbs.com. There I detail what I spent in 2008/09, and I still find it uber expensive.
