If you're a believer, your rewards are not of this world but in heaven. How many times in the Bible did God said we as believers are not of the world but in the world. This is not our home, we're just passing by. Don't focus too much on this world you miss God.

I very much like the term ' confident expectation '.....I think it sums faith up for me and I can use it when asked ...the question that has come up a couple of times is ' what do you get out of it '........being a Christian for me is a ' no choice ' thing...if I know it's true then there is no choice......many thanks Pastor for this teaching , GOD bless and keep you and yours and the Church. Please don't take my comment as sarcasm or as a personal attack, because it is in no way intended as such. However, has your life been so good to warrant any expectation of good? Existence has proven to be a curse and blessings are exceptionally rare, so I have learned to never expect anything to work out for my good. I have given up hope that God will ever love me, but I do have a hope that He will be true to His word and won't send me to Hell since I am trying to be obedient and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

I like when you say, “I know that I know that I know.” It kind of sums up the solidness of faith for the believer, but for the unbeliever faith sometimes is completely and absolutely beyond explanation, but therein lies the gentleness of God’s character.. like how Jesus used parables; one must love the truth to be willing to accept the truth as the truth.. (I know.. grasping and gripping are not same when it comes to understanding, one is fleeting.. ) but with faith, we either have it or we don’t ..kind of like a mustard seed, it’s small but it’s substance.. it’s there.

I have learned that Hope = Eager Expectation and that Gods promise are spiritual promises. The correct translation of the blessings of which Jesus spoke in the beatitudes in His sermon on the mount should say "spiritually blessed". Most people, including me in my past, are misled in thinking that God's blessings are for this life when few are. If anyone should have been Physically blessed in the world it was the 12 apostles,. They werent. I have come to the point in my 67 years that I shouldnt expect anything more than what they experienced. My rewards are coming, but not so much in this life.

Thank you for this teaching. I love the deeper explanation of faith and I’m using this for one of our church’s studies on faith. I would also like to respectfully point out that as a licensed therapist who studied integration of theology, spirituality, and psychology AND has suffered with depression myself, please be gracious in your view “depression” and the need to take meds if you’re a believer. This stigma in the church keeps a lot of people from seeking help. Depression (and so many other mental health disorders) are very real medical diagnoses that need treatment. Our brains are organs that sometimes need the help of meds, no different from heart, lungs, etc. That said, Jesus is our hope for healing, just as He is in every other aspect of our lives. ❤

With experience with the Lord, our faith grows. But our faith is the proof that God does exist. If He did not exist, then this Hebrews 11 kind of faith would not be possible. Our faith is the product of God being real, not just an earnest hope that He is.

I appreciated your sermon on this chapter of Hebrews. There was one point I wanted to address by merely stating my own understanding. Matthew 22:37 [37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. As you can see, that is not being concerned with this life or the one in the here after. As well, Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. I find it is quite enough for me to attempt the first commandment. For some peculiar reason, in general, I have little thought about the coming of Christ or the hereafter. Yet, I find I have too much thought of this life. Still, I see that concern being supplanted in my efforts to fulfill the first commandment . Not of my own efforts per se- as it seems life is about we beloved of Christ at least make an effort to revere and love Him. I have more thoughts of Hebrews 11:6 If God allows us to draw closer to Him it is by His grace alone, is it not? Would that not be the reward of those seeking Him? Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Thank you for your work. It helped me to understand the chapter so much better. Especially about sojourners in this life… just passing through folks, just passing through! Beautiful sir!

I was told that if I and my husband had enough "faith", that he would be healed. Our Lord had his way instead. I would never have him back; he is with his Jesus! It was just not God's will. I have no problem with that. My faith is firm.

5:00 Minus the "positive feeling", don't the others qualify as obedience? The Bible tells us we can't rely on feelings so we have to choose to have faith even when we don't feel it. I choose to have faith even though it is wholly unfounded, because I choose to be obedient. If I had to base my faith on any kind of feeling or evidence, I couldn't have faith.

Christian's take medicine for depression too. Depression is a medical condition, like heart disease. God has given us medical solutions for both. Taking meds for a medical condition doesn't mean you don't have faith. ❤

If Jesus healed when he walked the earth, why would Isaiah 53:5 not encompasses our physical as well as spiritual healing. " By has stripes we are healed"
@sajnathomas92219 ай бұрын
If you say that physical healing is not part of atonement, then how is it Jesus could heal all who were brought to him. I mean there is no instance in the Bible where a sickness wasn't healed by Jesus. Then how does the healing miracles happen in our times. Faith plays a major role. I understand that in our times there are cases where even after prayer, healing may not have happened but there may be many reasons for it. But the Mark 11:23 says you can have whatsoever u ask if u believe.. So are you saying GOD wants us to suffer in sickness and not be healed from it. I mean I dont get it!!! I know one thing GOD has no joy in seeing his children suffer and when we cry out to HIm, He'll answer.
