My grandma used to sing the romanceros, but she only would mention her grandma used to sing that same songs. I am from El Salvador, so there was a lot of Judio things and habits in my family, but I think it got lost in time. =(

@@ruh8659 Portugal’s king John the II first allowed a temporary entrance permit of 8 months that only the very wealthy Jews could afford to pay. Those who weren’t weren’t able to pay the exorbitant entrance fee were sold into slavery and at the end of the 8 months only 600 families were supposedly permitted to stay in the kingdom of Portugal. King John reneged on his promise to provide ships for rest of the Jewish community to find refuge elsewhere and then several thousand found refuge in the independent kingdom of Navarre. But eventually within several years both the kingdoms of Navarre & Portugal forcibly converted the Jews. King John II won the prize for deception and cruelty by not keeping his promise to sponsor safe passage and offering two choices: convert or be sold into slavery. In addition to his deception King John arrested the children of Jews that refused to convert and had them shipped off alone to the Portuguese island of Sao Tome where they were killed by wild animals and or died of starvation. When King John II f finally died there was hope that King Manuel would treat the Sephardim fairly after he freed the enslaved Jews. But subsequent to his marriage with the daughter of Ferdinand & Isabella King Manuel agreed to the expel Portugal’s Jews in 1496. He then declared that the expulsion would be on a particular day in 1497 and only from the port of Lisbon. Yet the Jews that tried to leave on the designated day were not met with ships as promised but with priests who converted them involuntarily.

What's crazy is that all my last names which are Spaniard, Portuguese, French, and German fall under the 5,220 Sephardic and Ashkenazi last names. I am a Caucasian, and my whole family is Caucasian. And this whole thing drives me bonkers. According to history, as soon as the kings of Spain under influence by the Catholic Church gave the decree to expell all Sephardic Jews in 1492, the Jews found themselves on pilgrimage throughout Europe and Asia. They also boarded the sea-faring ships en route to the new world, and there began populating and starting new families in new lands with natives of South America, the Caribbean, and North America all the way to modern day Canada. Indeed biblical prophecy is true when it describes the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD, and the Jewish people were spread throughout the ends of the earth. Finally in 1967, the land of Israel was restored. So all the expelling of Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews was God's doing all along to bring them back together again to the land He promised like a hen gathering her chicks. Matthew 23:37 NASB "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling." 🤔
