Hector was the best. He owned his audience. He could be near the knuckle but never nasty.....plus he was actually funny! Sadly missed but fondly remembered.

When I was a young man, I worked in the gaety theatre in kirkgate Leith. I remember Hector, he played straight man to comedian Johnny Victory. One of their famous skits wastwo statues coming alive at night. Hector was Rabby Burns and Johnny, McGonagall. Hilarious

My auld man asked if Hector Nicol was on YT? I said 'who?' And then proceeded to look. I am glad I did. An old school comic at his best! I had never heard of him before today. A proper scream!

My Grannies brother... She played piano in the silent cinemas aged 15.. his brother Joe ran ENSA concerts abroad in the war.. it aint half hot mum... he retired to run a theatre in wales.. Bertie ran petrol stations .. and invented for the war dept,,

If you listen to all the other comedians they are all based on this great man. He was never really recognised for how good he was. Very rarely used bad language, good comics don't need to swear.
