Hello from finally being less busy than recently. Agree r/e charging Pan specials with Dash, especially since Omega Hook Knives are no longer in the game to make Pan a dedicated boss deleter. Trivia time: Doggos in Ancient Greece were primarily used for home defense and hunting reasons. Most of the breeds that we have records of are fairly large, swift and sturdily built, such as the Greek Shepherd, Molossus and Cretan Hound. These breeds are all *ancient*, with the guard dog breed, Molossus, being extinct in the modern day and surviving only through ancient sculptures. The Greek Shepherd is actually the oldest dog breed in Europe, being almost five thousand years old at this stage. As for our best girl Hecuba, near as I can tell she looks like a Doberman Pincher based on the pointy ears, curly tail, black coat and size, but given she's small for a Pincher she might also be a mix with a breed like a Greek Harehound. Most of the ancient breeds I listed have droopy ears and straighter tails than Hecuba does. If anybody knows for sure, let me know. The Hades wiki couldn't confirm it for sure. Guard dogs were actually very commonly incorporated into ancient monsters in Greece as a motif. Of course we have the famous Cerberus and Orthros who are just three and two-headed dogs respectively, but originally Scylla was also described as having six dog heads growing from her hips before later tellings described her as having snake heads instead. Cerberus was also said to have a mane of serpents running down his back and a serpent for a tail similar to the Chimera's that is almost never depicted in the modern day, and the infamous Hydra we see in the first game is sometimes depicted with dog heads. All of these monsters were originally described as being descended from the giant monsters Typhon and Echidna, who were said to have one hundred snake heads growing interwoven from their bodies and possibly also a pair of snake tails for legs. Typhon is also sometimes said to have goat, dog and lion heads growing from him among the snake heads, foreshadowing his offspring Cerberus, Orthos, Scylla (in Greek but not Roman myth), Chimera and the Hydra, who all have different aspects of his and Echidna's bodies in their own monstrous shapes. I think mythically this probably has to do with these monsters being guardians of various locations who either staked them out as territory or were tamed and set to protect them. The giant Molossus dogs of ancient times were at least the size of modern day mastiffs and seem to have been quite ferocious, so this would have been an easy comparison point to make for a Greek storyteller trying to frighten his audience and establish that our heroes were treading on the threshold of some monstrous creature's home. By way of evidence for this belief, at least a dozen Greek and Roman authors such as Aristophanes and Aristotle all the way to Virgil and Ovid in the Roman Empire write about how huge and ferocious these dogs were at some point. We get a taste of it for ourselves when fighting corrupted Cerberus down in the Fields of Punishment. But despite how scary they could be, the Greeks also loved their dogs. One of the most touching bits of archaeology that survives from the ancient world are the grave stones of doggos buried by their loving Greek humans thousands and thousands of years ago. Roadsides would be marked with graves of loyal dogs, and even today we have the inscriptions acting as tribute to these animals. "This is the tomb of the dog, Stephanos, who perished, Whom Rhodope shed tears for and buried like a human. I am the dog Stephanos, and Rhodope set up a tomb for me." Another goes: Thou who passest on this path, If haply thou dost mark this monument, Laugh not, I pray thee, though it is a dog's grave. Tears fell for me, and the dust was heaped above me By a master's hand. The Romans sometimes referred to their dogs as 'foster children' or 'loved like a human' in the way we might call our doggies 'fur babies', and while the Ancient Greek language is a bit more formal in its translation, still you can feel very powerful emotions coming through from the dog-lovers of the distant past through to today. One of the most famously depressing passages in the Odyssey is of Odysseus' loyal hound Argos recognizing him as he returns home from his twenty year journey to Troy and back. Odysseus' house has been overrun with traitors who hope to kill him in his absence, so he disguises himself as he approaches the house. His now-ancient doggo, Argos, who is at least twenty years old by now, recognizes him even through the disguise and begins to wag his tail. Odysseus can't greet him or else he'll break his disguise, so Argos at last lays down his head and dies, giving up when his master will not recognize his long-serving loyalty. Thankfully, in Hades II you can see an animal shade positioned beside Odysseus in the Unseen's Grove. It's pretty unanimously agreed upon that this is Argos' ghost reunited with Odysseus' shade in the afterlife. As for our world and its long history of loving bonds between humans and dogs, I don't know what of me will survive the next three thousand years, but if it were my love for my now-long-gone cocker spaniel Judy, I'd be pretty content with that being all that people remembered about me.

I agree- don't like having to "trade" attacking for a hit. It'd be great to always have mobility while being able to charge and attack.

Problem with grape juice is that you are using your cast after you pick it up so it actually gives +100 power to your cast and not to your specials. That's not ideal but still good

Yeah I love the idea of grape juice but the more I use it, the harder it is to get the true value as there’s so many things that eat it first

IMO Spiral Knives is the best hammer in the game currently. I can’t think of a single other hammer that makes me happier to see it and makes me extremely confident that my run will be a win. Spiral Knives Pan is just such a fantastic weapon, Moros torches is the only real competitor

Build request: prominence flare with zeus duo and easy shot from Artemis. I tried it with geyser spout but it’s weird because foes get knocked away and the arrow misses like half the time, it looks cool though. I feel like this boon needs a chance to crit since it’s only 40 damage at epic

@ i just tried easy shot with geyser spout build again trying to focus on easy shot and it sucked because geyser spout was doing 900+ while easy shot was doing only 70 at most, I hope they change that boon because it looks so good but it’s so not worth picking up😭

imo Spiral Knives is terrible EXCEPT on Pan, where it's amazing and probably the main hammer I want, esp if I get extra omega speed from hermes or chaos or something, or sometimes Hecate's keepsake.
