A few years back I had a ktm 690 and was thinking of getting a dirt bike. I was asking about a yz 125. You convinced me about the 2 stroke ktm and talked about Enduros. I started to watch your videos and that was the start. 4 years later it was the best thing I ever did. Thank you so much. 🙏

I rode the '83 CR480 and the '01 CR500 as my primary woods bikes for three decades with modifications of flywheel weight, Gnarly pipe, power reeds, protection parts and larger fuel tank. Either they were good woods bikes or I figured out how to adapt. I never owned a 250 so I couldn't say how that works. Probably lacked the low end grunt of the open class bikes. I finally joined the modern age last year and am now riding a Beta 300RR, which is very nice. I didn't realize how much I would love electric start.

Just love your thoughts, I’m with you 100%. I own an 02 YZ250, 05YZ250, 14 YZ250, 07 YZ144, 04 CR500AF, 07 CR250AF from an 07 crf250 roller with an 96 CR250 engine. My bike just are my absolute pleasure to ride. Not sure I can get rid of any of them.

I got both the kick start and electric start on my bike. I use the kick starter exclusively, even when I'm in a pickle, stalled in the middle of a slope and such. There's something about kick starting a bike... that's hard to explain, or even understand. I guess I'm weird.

Great video, I only own 2 strokes. I’ve been through a number of 4 strokes and just never felt right on them. Today I own an 02 YZ250, 05 YZ250, 2014 YZ250, 05 YZ144, 04 CR500AF, and a 07 CR250AF from a 07 CRF250 roller. Love all my toys I rebuilt them from the frame out. It’s hard to get rid of my toys. I won’t o n a Euro bike. Not because they cost a fortune but also because you’re not sure if you could get any meaningful replacement parts on a timely manner. Many cases if you’re KTM or others are few years older, there aren’t any replacement parts for them. So nope! Not for me. As you’ve stated the Japanese have built reasonably good bikes for decades. My YZs have parts available from at least 99-now. Love it!! Never had any issues. The only bike I had a hard time with was my 03 RM250, it was as a bastard child bike that one year. It was pipe specific and extremely hard to jet for trail and all around use.

Great scenery. Love the fall when dirtbiking! Not too cold, not too hot. Always moist. All variants of mud is a must to get the most out of dirtbiking. As a teenager, I rode what I could afford, prior to that what my parents thought I deserved (loved my XR75, but my kx80 was when life began). Never understood the real difference between WR and CR until I was a grown up man. Me an my friends only had MX- bikes. One goof had a 1980 Husky WR125 that he also rode as a commuter bike. It was heavy, hence slow, due to the same heavy duty chassie was reused for the 125, 250 and up. We rode mostly enduro (in the woods), mostly by our selves. MX-tracks required a grown up with a car and a trailer. That was kind of boring, because I hated any rules and regulations. I preferred my friend's Husky bottom end grunt 250 or 390 in the woods to my own high revving Honda CR125. In the sand pits both were a blast. Two stroke was thankfully the only thing in MX or enduro back then. CCM and some other sold Rotax-thumpers to old nostalgic men. Now I'm the old nostalgic man longing for a cheap and reliable modern twostroke - road legal ready. Electric starting a 2stroke? As a 14year old, kickstarting a husky CR250 or CR390 was regarded as nothing at all. Often wearing tennis shoes. I really don't get the electric starter in MX and most enduro. Even my KLX650R could be kickstarted by a 12year old girl when it sometimes stalls offroad - without even putting her foot down. Stuck in a mudhole, tired after intense riding, sure I've longed for it too, but the longterm extra weight and reliability issues - no thanks. I have no interest in standing still, carrying or leading my bike like hard enduro Romaniacs or Erzberg. They are impressive and they seem to rely on their electric starters all the time, but I question if they are riding for fun and most of all - not on the cheap.

I bought a 95 Cr250 because it was a good deal and I wanted to restore something. I spent a couple years going through it doing a full rebuild and setting it up as a trail bike like this. When I finally got it done I realized I wasn't having fun with it. It was just too much bike for the type of riding I want to do( I'm slow😅). It's an amazing bike and cool to pull out and ride, but it wasn't a good fit for me. I spend too much of the time with the clutch pulled in. I got a CRF250F and honestly have way more fun on it.

I have a 01 cr250 and let me tell you looking at your bike was like seeing mine. Minus the graphics and I have a red chain , plus red/black seat and little red misc stuff here and there too but the black plastics to your polished frame and pipe was like looking at my own bike 🤟🏻 I agree with you on the motocross setup being awesome for the trails/enduro as I ride trails here in Hawaii. Got a fmf gold series to shorty exhaust pipe on mine and she screams in the hills !

Great perspective Mr H ,price is definitely number one for me.I seen a old kdx 420 for sale that I would love to have, use to own one in the early eighties, awesome machine. Wish I had a spare 2 grand. Anyway Great video.

Great bike and MX bikes do quite well as long as there is traction available. I would just add as much flywheel as possible, but I would also revalve that suspension. Plenty of KZbin video's out that you can revalve it yourself. I do hate kickstarters though.

Im concerned its too stiff for off road. I like my kdx200 with .43 spring rate race tech springs on the forks with 10 weight oil. Your thoughts? I weigh 185 without gear, 50 years young, advanced intermediate rider.

I've riden a new husky and a 01 cr250. I don't get the $12,000 price tag on the husky. It has zero character and in a few years it will become the equivalent of a 10 year old European car... The Honda will stand the test of time. If you can get over the long first gear you'll be OK. Out here in the desert it works great.

Oh Im right there with you new bikes are great but if an old one works just the same and often more reliable its an easy choice!

No problem with personal preference and sentiments. But as a value proposition... eh. $3k to start. Full revalve, pipe, wheel, flywheel weight, tank... another $1k+. Still no electric start, lights, fan. You don't have to scrape for a 20+ yo KTM to get all of the above. 2013-2018 KTMs are available for $5k all day long.

I guess not good for hard enduro lack of bottom end power . What pre mix ratio you run for trail riding ? And what pre mix oil you use ?
@ozbulitsinces1996
@ozbulitsinces1996 5 ай бұрын
Great for hard enduro all depends on rider oil ratio any thing from 35/1 to 50/1
