I have now watched a good number of vids on hedgelaying . This one had by far the best commentary . The guy not only knew his stuff but presented it really well.

One thing I would like to see is the process of re-laying a previously laid hedge, especially on a 30 year “regular” cycle. Having never done one myself I struggle to visualise how you incorporate the previously laid pleachers, or even if you remove them all and just use the vertical heel regrowth??

Exactly what I've come looking for. I keep seeing videos with managing hedges in the title, but they always show the initial laying process which looks to be the easiest bit 😄

Arable farmer here. We leave our hedgerows virtually untouched, don't have a hedge cutter. The birds appreciate it but the hedges are really old and rotting off in places and looking sparse at the base. I've planted seedling hawthorns that I've cultivated, in some spaces but I feel like chain sawing the lot down to ground level and see what happens!. Hedge laying is out of the question as the trunks are massive.

Why isn’t this done more across the country? Imagine rural & regional road’s had there hedges done like this. It would look fantastic, make visibility for driver’s better & farm security
