I had watched this musical before with somebody that was just a passer by, and I just watched this with my boyfriend (who came from this wicked little town in Mexico), and this musical made so much more sense and made me sob while watching it. I didn't see this movie until 2022, just a couple months before my gender confirmation surgery. It shook me to my core. I literally wept. I love this version, But it's the Tommy Gnosis version that breaks me, Because that is when Hedwig is finally seen by someone important to her, that truly matters. Because as a transgender woman It's to be a singer in the songwriter I can tell you, to be truly seen by someone you love is everything. After my surgery I sang the Tommy Gnosis version at karaoke night to the locals before I moved away to the big city.
