Jesus had to die for our sins, if you believe that, ask Him to be your Savior, you can’t save yourself, thats why He came, lived a sinless life died and was buried but 3 days later He came back to life, proving that He is the Son of God. Accept as Savior and Lord, find a Bible believing Church, and join and support it

I love and miss the ole hymns and real hymnbooks. Don't care much for the " rock bands " and the modern music being played in our Bible teaching Churches. It does not have the " Godly " feeling of my Church of my youth.

Makes you wonder what has happened in the last 50 years that the big TV companies don't put stuff like this on TV anymore. Back then there were only 5 channels. Hee Haw was probably one of the number one shows. Now they leave God out of everything.

And the churches need to go back to ringing their bells on Sunday to let society know they're invited to come worship and sing, and they need to return to preaching all about sin, too. So what if there's lawsuits because the bells disturbed the anti-Christians and there's whiners in the congregation who feel guilty when sin is spoken of. Sin and guilt get to throw loud pride parties and hold parades while taking over whole streets, and all without anybody barking at them.

If it's presented it will. There needs to be a target to aim at, a bandwagon to ride upon. People need to be re-invited to become Christians again, invited like they once were before when the church bells were allowed to ring to invite society right in. Christians need to knock on neighbor's doors and invite them to their church. People enjoy getting invited to things. LGBTQ invited people to join them and they came willingly enough. Christians need to do that too, invite sinners to come to church and treat them friendly.

@@douglasharbert3340 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Is it any wonder I called some "sinners" in need of redemption? There are many reasons why congregations are shrinking. We must worship in spirit and in truth. I call no one a sinner simply because they don't believe things that I do. I must share my honest thoughts though, and that might make some feel a sense of personal guilt I have zero control over. Ok, got anything else beside a stone to throw at me? You provided nothing I can savor, let alone learn from.

I remember those Saturday evenings well. My Mother would be in the kitchen preparing Sunday lunch while Dad would be shining our shoes and ironing our clothes for Sunday services the next morning. The highlight would be when a Gospel Song would close the show. Dad would say"you boys be quiet now". There were no VCR's or DVD devices in our house so you had to listen when it happened. One of the enduring aspects of Hee Haw was the wholesomeness of the show. It wasn't perfect, even our preacher said to" watch the show from the neck up". The women were smoking for sure. Also looking back Hee Haw was very content to entertain and not indoctrinate. The was no desire to engage in social engineering by trotting out a string of Hollywood misfits.

Growing up in s.w. CT. 60 years ago, if I remember correctly WPIX out of NYC would play HEE HAW on Saturday late mornings, provided the Yankees weren’t playing and I’d sit and watch, loving every corny and campy joke they told. I always loved the gospel song at the end, well the ones I saw because I think that WPIX cut short the show. In case you didn’t know NYC HATES our LORD JESUS CHRIST. So, as Barbara Mandrel said “I was country when country wasn’t cool”

My Dad was a Hank Williams fan. Hank wrote and recorded many songs. I especially like the spiritual ones. Great voice, and he left a good legacy. God's Blessings on all who had to do with its production! Their families as well.

I so miss shows like Hee Haw ,Lawrence Welk,Andy Griffith ,Leave it to Beaver. My brother and I use to also sneak and watch the risque & rock shows of the 70s as kids like American Bandstand ,The Midnight Special and Soul Train but did not fully understand why our God -Fearing Parents wanted us to turn that kind of stuff off , though they could see my brother and I had an affinity to music , All of it regardless of genre. I could not understand why sometimes I could watch Elvis or The Jackson five and other times I could not or why did they frown on me watching a band like Kiss or people like Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd or David Bowie or a Rick James or a young talented but girly boy Prince which they labeled the Devils Music . Today I see that those types of music or at least the evil spirits behind much if not all of it were setting the stage for the filth and noise thats called music today( as it was considered to older generations back then ) and maybe I got just a bit older too where my taste have changed, but I also know that Jesus came into my life and I love the Lord God with all my heart and soul. As a half decent musician today , I dont think all secular music is bad nor do I believe that what is called gospel music today is all good because in my spiritual walk with God , Ive found that WE are all sinners ,even saved ,we are just saved sinners still prone to sin and making mistakes until the return of Christ ; but the difference is like that of Moses and Cain , both were murderers but one had a relationship with the Lord God and the other did not. I had the opportunity in Tulsa ,Okla back in 2012 at a Brad Paisley Concert to see Paisley bring out his special guest who lived in Tulsa at the time , Hee Haw's Roy Clark and I was like a kid in a Candy Store, I didnt care that he was an old man , but just to see him made me remember Hee Haw and the countless hrs my family watched it together ,save my Mama when the Hee Haw Honeys came on ,lol. ( But to see the Blessed Savior as a child of God is my ultimate life goal and that would be Heavenly in every sense of the word ). When I hear secular songs like John Denver's Rocky Mountain High or Take me Home , I feel just as much passion about God Almighty as when I hear How Great thou Art and I'd rather have Jesus. I realize you cant be mixing Jesus with the World , but God sent his son to save us and I ask him to guide me through what is good about music ( Goodness comes from God )and to help me sort out what I sing ,play and listen to daily that I would not be ashamed to play before the God-head ; I dont always succeed but that is my daily goal when it comes to music and for all phases of my life. Hee Haw and shows like Marlon Perkins Mutual of Omaha ,and the Fishing shows of the 70s,80s to me showed simpler times in a mostly God - fearing world ; today one would be hard pressed even in many Churches to find God 's Word in one form or another made plain his Majesty and Providence ,even without having to hardly say his name as like the book of Esther or the book of the Song of Solomon.

My favorite song is "O Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land; As on Thy highest mount I stand..." as sung by the old pea-picker himself, Tennessee Ernie Ford. This song is beautiful as well, as it reminds us of how much we need Jesus.
