Dave Jag beat me to it. Its coming along gently but when your just doing it in your spare time it seems to take for ever but the more you do it the quicker you'll get.

A few more small lessons learned on this simple task.. therefore I expect better workmanship out of myself on the next plug weld job….

Looking good buddy, keep at it. I have made lots of errors but I always know that if I make a mistake I can fix it. Hate weld through primer, never had a good weld with using it.

I thought all you guys over there were using weld through primer... no more for me.. first and last can I buy of that stuff. I guess that is a good thing about metal in that it can be welded back or replaced.. Thanks Brian..

Great job. I'm just about to reweld my heelboard / subframe panel back to a new floor. Shame I can't spin my Mini like yours. I found weld through primer to not be very useful, so instead I just clean the three sides where I'm plug welding (top side, and both sides where the panels touch together).

If you have not yet, hold out for my next video on how I plan to treat/protect the metal. I’m check fitting again just now making sure all is good

Randy, The spot weld drill is brilliant i have to have one lol, Can you tell us the company name and price and where you got it from in the next video. With this drill you can use the primer under the flange and just redrill the plug weld hole after and clean the primer from the lower surface to get a good contact for the MIG arc, As you said the extra plug and stich welds will give the heel board so much strength great job, Cheers Dave

Will do Dave…. It really is an awesome tool!! In spot weld areas, I won’t use weld through primer at all… already don’t like the stuff…

AHH love the right tool for the job, such a time and effort saver! My spot welder does work through copper upol primer in case you want to try that 👍

This is definitely the right tool for drilling out spot welds and specific depth holes.. Probably one of the most useful tools for a restoration job that I have now... I will definitely be using it a great deal... I'm just going to use some high zinc primer to spray into the seams after welding..

Randy, I'm ready to do some panel replacement on my '64. Who did you buy your floor through? What are your thoughts on fitment from different companies? Price is no issue for me, as headaches cost more in the long run.

Relative to Floor panels only and in my limited experience, I have found that the Heritage panels are the way to go. I now have two Magnum full half panels and two Magnum front floor panels along with a Magnum heelboard fastened to the roof of my shop to be use somewhere some day. I since purchased Heritage panels and they like a charm... well.. far better. With that said, I understand and believe that M-Machine has great panels for a much better price. The challenge I've had with M-Machine is that I can never connect with them given I don't have international calling and they don't answer email nor WhatsApp. Therefore I go straight to MiniSpares. The larger panels will cost with shipping, but you will still come out ahead by ordering direct with Mini Spares vs other companies here in the States.. If you ever need to discuss.. my number for calling/texting/WhatsApp is 254.717.7497.. Hope that helps a little...

Weld through primer is shit your better off etch priming then cleaning where your welding

I agree with you, but have a plan with high zinc primer after welding. I could not believe that the primer prevented my spot welder from working….
