I think that people who don't listen to metal will never be understand the level of complexity there is when it comes to playing drums in this genre. I believe metal drummers have taken an instrument that has been around for a very long time and started using it in ways that people never would have thought possible. Just one of the many reasons I love drum videos and metal!

It’s really not that complex , lots of repetition and some techniques can go far and to put a lot of time with that makes u sound like machine 🤷🏻♂️ awesome drumming but the innovation mainly comes from drummers of another genre then picked up by others In these pop genres

I fucking love Eric Morotti, so many people give him shit for using triggers and heel toe, but he doesnt abuse them, and he just has really fucking good control and technique. Also, his fills.

Awesome as always. A little snack to make the need to play spike. Corona quarantine will have an odd bonus of finally finding time to try more of these tasty treats!

Honestly I feel him with the direct drive thing. I feel like I have to work against it unlike chain or strap
@richardskalnik86334 жыл бұрын
I wish more people talked about the difference between longboard pedals and shortboard. Most direct drives are longboard right? My students therefore go "direct drive is weak pedals." The 0 point on the footboard angle adjustment isnt the same on a long vs shortboard. My longboards 0 point is at 13 degrees and my shortboard 0 point is 18. We tried changing out the direct drive shaft for a chain and tried to A and B it blindfolded. Turns out it was the angle that was making it a weaker stroke on the longboard cause u have 5 degrees less space to build speed/ power in the stroke. So now I play a longboard at 15 degrees. Makes a difference. Wish hed cover this too
@richardskalnik86333 жыл бұрын
@@user-hn7wl5yw9z where you can adjust the footboards angle there are little tick marks so u can always remember your settings. Zero point is the tick mark in the middle. Some call that the "factory standard "settings since that's where the pedal is set when u first get em. Sorry I'm not great at explaining without giving u a picture of it.

Major tip to anyone trying to figure it out, there are two distinct motions. Practice making the beater come back after the first stroke, THEN starting the second "ankle" stroke. it will slow you down significantly but the control you get in amazing. I figured this out by watching wanja groger, a master of a variant of this technique.
@Crocodonk4 жыл бұрын
Are you saying Grogers technique is slower, or just slower in the beginning, but gets faster with practice?
@amneenja57204 жыл бұрын
@@Crocodonk depends on how your brain works I straight can't seem to process or imagine playing double strokes, it feels so alien. either way, practice is what gets you fast, and you gotta start slow and clean, otherwise your "speed" will be more akin to a seizure on drums.
@Crocodonk4 жыл бұрын
For me at the moment my double strokes, and swivel on the bass drum isn't any faster than my singles. The swivel and doubles just seem to require less stamina, but are much harder to coordinate.
