How to install parts with 3M-VHB Tape, featuring ATLP CSL-Style Spoiler

The problem with 3M VHB tape is, once you stick it, IT'S STUCK. That makes positioning parts before attaching them particularly difficult. We use this technique to install all kinds of spoilers and accessories with 3M VHB tape.
VHB Stands for "Very High Bond." Attaching the part with only a small corner of the tape will allow you to reposition the part before it gets completely stuck. Peel the backing away from behind the part after the part is positioned!

Thanks for the information regarding the holes, I just got a spoiler that had like 6 holes in random places and people mentioned on forums I was reviewing to just tape over them and go on with life. This video is a life saver, I just wish that the retailers would put more explanation on there merchandise because there wasn't any unfortunately.

So that you don't lose the fold-over red part of the tape (as what happened here), you can extend them with masking tape and tape them them down before pulling them out.

quick question, I noticed the black tape on your trunk before you installed. Did you have a factory spoiler on the car? If so, how did you take it off, I'm not sure of the factory spoiler is bolted or not.

This is a Type-S and as such it did have an OE spoiler on it. The stock spoiler is held on with bolts and tape.

I was wondering if you remove the acura oem spoiler would it leave holes in the trunk or when you put on the new spoiler would it cover it?

With holes leftover from OEM spoiler, you think it’ll be help to use a couple of them holes & drill into the heel toe spoiler for extra strength?? I have the Carbon duckbill for Honda Accord… just was thinking of that idea

That would only be good if there were threaded inserts on the bottom side of the spoiler, which the there are not. Screwing into the carbon would make it hold any better.

They aren't "stickers," this is high-bond 3M foam tape. It's super strong when applied correctly (as in the video). If you have holes for an OEM spoiler then definitely you want to cover those.

We have not found a need for adhesive promoter in most cases. Our tape is good enough that good clean surface promotes plenty of adhesion. Also the ATLP/FLP parts we make fit the counters of the body well. The tape is not tugged on so much as a result.

Yes different tapes will work better in different temperatures. I don't know that it needs to be a warmer day but that might be relative to where you're located. I would probably wait till days that are above 60° myself.

You definitely don't need bolts. Installing this spoiler properly, as in the video, will make removing it extremely difficult. Fact: this spoiler we installed was attempted to be stolen a few months later and the part was unable to be removed. It cannot be simply pulled off the car.

I recently bought a used oem type s trunk lip but not sure what mm double sided tape to use as I went to my nearest auto parts store and they only had one size and the one on the lip seems to be a much thinner tape. Does anyone know the size of the double sided tape to use for a oem type s trunk lip?

The spoiler here is not carbon fiber, it is fiberglass. We still sell all three versions :) No, they are not available with paint at this time.
