Hegel's View of History

Hegel played a key role in challenging the view that history was static, stationary, fixed,
immobile, immovable, passive or stagnant. He was the first to show that history moves forward through internal contradictions found in society. That there are breaks in history that change the entire pattern, ideology, structure of society. This incredible insight into the evolution of human history broke with the metaphysical view of history of the medieval period and opened the space for the development of Marxism.

A big thanks. You made me look at stuff I have read from a different perspective. I was stuck, and now I am moving again, well for a while anyway.

Terming Egypt as 'oriental' is stretching it more than trumps comb over

Lol. Good one Daniel. Hegel grouped Egypt with other ancient civilizations like China, India, and Persia under the general concept of the "Orient." This is because for Hegel, the Orient wasn't merely a geographical category but also a conceptual category in relation to the World Spirit.

@TaimurRahman-English I actually think parts of the Horn of Africa, Egypt Meroe, Koptos had massive cultural interchange with India but I don't reckon Egypt and etc " oriental" because I use it purely as a geographical designation as , I think , it's etymology is the French word for "east". I don't think people who are lose with terminology make good philosophers but may make a good poet

Wow doctor! THANK YOU for sharing these illuminating lectures. I not that Feuerbach said that humankind's fantastic creations of the Divine are actually reflections of the human ESSENCE. I note the word "essence" here and wonder at its exact meaning.

7:32 so that’s where metaphor argument comes from defenders of religious scriptures. Most followers taken scriptures literally.

If reason dictates that putting people in prison is better than chopping off hands punishment etc why do we see increased crimes in the former states and less crimes in the later states. In this case you can either say that the reasoning you applied is flawed and incomplete or you reason itself is not the efficient means to reach the correct conclusion

If rationality is constantly evolving and what is rational yesterday becomes irrational tomorrow how can rationality be used as a measure to gauge the real objective good in the society. Lots of gaps there professor

No matter how much hard work the people of other countries do, they still can't earn money equal to Europeans. I am talking about the majority of the people of a country, not a single person (GDP per capita). The top 50 richest countries in GDP per capita are European countries or oil-rich countries. The real reason Europeans occupy all of North America, South America, Australia, and New Zealand, controlling almost 50% of the world's area and natural resources. Now, some will give examples of: - The Korean Economic Miracle, - The Japanese Economic Miracle, - And the Taiwan Economic Miracle. But in reality, no miracle happened. After World War II, Japan received $23 billion in aid, and Korea received $13 billion from America-these amounts are much higher in today’s value, though the exact numbers are unclear. Japan, Korea, and Taiwan became rich by becoming slaves of America (Europeans). These countries provided military bases to America and followed the same foreign policy as Europeans (for example, when the U.S. sanctioned Russia, Japan also sanctioned Russia). In exchange, America gave them prosperity through money, aid, technology transfer, factory setups, etc. For example, Taiwan is a small island country with a population of 10 million, but still, Taiwan is rich because of semiconductors. How did semiconductors come to Taiwan? Because of the USA. RCA (Radio Corporation of America) set up its semiconductor factory in Taiwan in: - 1966 (initially as a joint venture) - 1970 (as a wholly-owned subsidiary, RCA Taiwan Ltd.)

Moreover, if history ks moving forward in a dialectical nature why do we see things like genocide , Global Warming , mass corporate slavery , oppression etc in the dialactelly forward period of history. Moreover , How do you explain the rise and fall of civilizations who were quite advanced and logically superior like the greeks.

Hegel was naive in his thoughts, and sort of a charlatan,Jean Jacque Roussea, was the same, they've had this naive faith in humanity and human progress, same as the Marxist do.We only have technological progress, but the human egoistic driven nature and divisions are standing intact from the beginning of the civilization,Liberalism it's the only social progress humanity as a whole its capable of and that ultimately leads to, no good..I would rather believe Arthur Shopenhauer,s thought, rather than all those optimistic, idealistic, good resolution list, but without much ground in the reality.
