I always wanted to read Heidegger, but I always thought I would need 10 years of studying majority of philosophers that came before him, before I could grasp anything he said. But this advice of “start anywhere and keep going” and living the philosopher’s life made me lose the fear and reduce the pressure I put on this endeavour. The important thing is to continue learning and thinking deeply.

It took me some time to watch this whole video. What a ride! I am amazed! I really loved all the ideas presented in this video. The tip of the iceberg on my journey into philosophy.

"concealed destiny of Western thinking"!!! Millerman, I would like to hear your reaction, or commentary and explainations, to a round table discussion I listened to recently, here in KZbin, titled Dialectic Roots and It's Modern Weaponization

I suggest you a video. Watch this short video for results on intelligence and the self that even philosophy and psychology professors haven't achieved yet. The name of the video is WHAT IS TABULA RASA? WHAT IS IQ INTELLIGENCE? WHAT IS THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THEM?

I had no affinity or introduction to these writers you speak on, save Plato. However, the nuances remind a lot of Alfred North Whitehead and even David Bohm gets into the implicit challenges of the thoughts of thoughts(His book, "Thought as a System"), the order in the unordered thoughts, to think of thinking, really good and engaging ideas you pull out and love when you find a phrase and step back to really walk through it..

Heideggar was "canceled" for 7 years? Wow. And to think we are again living in such times. I am grateful for Michael Millerman's videos. Wonder when/if the national socialist government of Canada will try to cancel him? God forbid. 🙏

There is very little that is poetic in *anal*ytic philosophy, which is why it lead nowhere. In fact, the few parts of analytic philosophy which are memorable, are those that highlight the poetic elements of reality, for example, the ending of the Wittgenstein's Tractatus, and the implications of Goedel's incompletness theorems.

@@millerman thanks, but I already have this book and am a big fan of bloom. I have a question for you though: if Aristotle denied the Forms post Plato’s death is he actually not a philosopher but a sophist? For to deny the Forms is to deny the thing itself, justice itself, truth itself. Ie objective reality. If you deny objective reality then the only thing remaining is relativism. Neitsche also denies the thing in itself and in fact praises sophism (relativism) as being superior to Plotted Nic philosophy (objectivism). He also praises one of his mentors Thucydides for his sophism. So, the question: is Aristotle, including other philosophers that deny the thing in itself (ie the Forms) Are they all in fact sophists?

A lot of these post Greek philosophers are confusing and it doesn’t have to be. They talk in circles in the hope it sounds intelligent. An introduction to philosophy is this: when you start to perceive there’s something not quite right with the world and with what you’ve been taught to believe. In short, you become like Neo in the Matrix. Or another way of putting it, you start to notice that your cave world watching shadows on the wall may not be the real world at all. In this new mental state you begin to seek the truth That’s an introduction to philosophy.
