Frederick the Wise and Frederick the Pious were two different individuals, Frederick III of Simmern (The Pious) was born a generation later, he was a devout Calvinist who commissioned the Heidelberg Catechism in 1563, authored by Ursinus and Olevianus respectively, Frederick the Wise, Elector of Saxony was the great benefactor and friend of Luther who protected him from the Holy Roman Emperor and Pope.

I'm currently looking into the Heidelberg Catechism, but am a bit confused by this video when it says Frederick the Pious is the same as Frederick the Wise... Whereas I understand these to be two different people? Both being the Fredrick III, but one being of Simmern, Elector Palatine of the Rhine and the other Elector of Saxony. The latter not being very reformed. Am I correct in this respect or have I misunderstood something? Thanks

Just having read Daniel Craig's comment (something I should have done to start with), I believe I'm right in what I say.

So was Question #80 the only place where Calvin was allowed to fiddle with the original document?

Allowed to fiddle? Gave feedback/recommendation is the correct phrase.
