Heidelberg Cylinder SBG Die cutting machine

I ran one off and on for over two years. I loved the this press. I was in printing for 17 years but started bindery. Then did small offset printing and ran a windmill press when needed. The cylinder was sitting there for several years without an operator. At one time in between jobs worked graveyard at a shop with the cylinder press. It was highly used there die-cutting labels and table cards for a huge winery in the states. Someone else set it up. I loaded and ran the work. I then went back to the other printer. A job was to go out for die-cutting and scoring presentation folders. We'll I had down time and found an old die for folders. Got permission from a super to mess with the Heidelberg Cylinder, working with used paper stock. I was able to set it up and got it to work. Then the super said run the job for the folders. I did and then I cut the job down. I then folded the job by hand and glued the pockets. By the time the boss came in the morning to take the job to the die-cutters, I told him the job was complete. From then on I ran the press as needed for two years. I loved that press if not just for the sound.

I was working for ten years in one of these. Plus in an 1987 Bobst and a 1976 East German Kama Polygraph. I really miss this sound. This machine on the video is so well maintained! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I’ve still got a piece of aluminium furniture at home that went through the gears on a cylinder I ran in the 70’s when I was a teenager. I hid it and took it home because I thought I’d get into trouble.😁
