This piece perfectly represents the Hungarian soul, how through the ages we had so many sad moments in our history, but the people always tried to bursh off sadness and depression by jokes and joyful dance. The fast dancing song (czardas) is prefect choice and ending after the very slow sad theme.

@@tanyaamosava241 As it is on wiki, which was corrected because of me, when I found an article about the story of this piece, Sarasate was visiting Hungary, and usually foreigners know nothing about Gypsies, so they think if they play a song, then it is probably theirs (Sarasate also heard these melodies played by gypsy musician). Well in fact, many gypsies started to work as musician in 19th century (or even earlier), but because they were mostly playing (working) for Hungarian audience, obviously Hunagrians wanted to listen to their own traditional folk songs, in this way the Hungarian Gypsies had to learn and play these songs, otherwise how they would have made money in the bars and restaurants they were playing? So Sarasate went home thinking it was probably Gypsy music, however there can be an other reason of it, in that time the composers liked to use the name Gypsy, because then it sounded more exotic, it is clear in the case of Ravel: Tzigane, tzigane (or as we say cigány) is an other word for Gypsy, and this piece has nothing to do with the Gypsies either. From Wikipedia: ,,The name of the piece is derived from the generic European term for "gypsy" (in French: gitan, tsigane or tzigane rather than the Hungarian cigány) although it does not use any authentic Gypsy melodies."

Not only because of her incredible playing this tune but there is another reason why I occasionally watch this clip. I agree that Sarah Chang was more precocious technically than Chloe, but Himari is more precocious technically even than Sarah. In terms of musicality, however, Chloe is superior to both (although Himari runs her close). Sohyun is an extremely accomplished violinist but she is at a level quite a bit below theirs.

I have now heard several other performances of this piece, including ones by Menhuin and Perlman. I keep coming back to this one, as the one I like best. I love to watch her facial expressions, as she plays. She is not just playing this piece, she is dominating it. She is showing the world how it should be played. At 12 years old! And at 16, she is even better, if that's possible.

I think she really nailed the tempo of the last part, most of the other performances of other violinists or her others ones too, have a bit different tempo. When they play it faster, it starts to lose the feeling of the dance Czardas, as this part comes from that. for example 8:10 is a very typical part of it.

Notice that when she does this phrase initially, you can (if you’re a violinist/performed solo) pick up on how she failed to gliss up and merely shifted, which didn’t sound the way I assume she wanted it to; but look at when she does said phrase again. Elisa Khud, In reading these comments it seems most of these viewers have very little exposure to live classical music experiences/performances (probably even on KZbin). I've been enjoying classical music on KZbin for years. My mother was a professional performer with harp and voice and toured Europe in the 1950's with the professional All-America Chorus as a featured soloist (including a performance for the Queen of England). She was an honors graduate in choral conducting and piano at Northwestern University. Her daughter/my sister won a full tuition scholarship to the Eastman school of Music, was the harp faculty at the University of Denver, first call union harpist and played with the Denver Symphony. Her husband earned his master's and doctorate degrees on cello at Northwestern University and recently retired after 34yrs from the Denver Symphony and 25yrs with the Central City Opera Orchestra. I sang in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus for 20+yrs including three different sold-out performances in Carnegie Hall. We were invited to augment the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performing on two different (14,000 attendees in the amphitheater and on the 36 acre grounds) occasions for the season opener at Ravinia (the summer home of the Chicago Symphony) (look it up). I had a successful clarinet/saxophone studio for forty years. My point being, I've never run across this level of reaction/commentary to a standard classical music situation before. This is not something rare or uncommon to expect in the musical world of performance. There's no dispute that she is a gifted accomplished musician accompanist, but, as with soloists, there are fortunately many inspirational/moving performances to be experienced and savored. I'm just surprised that so many people haven't apparently heard this level of "tear" producing artistry. I hope you are lucky enough to hear/experience many more. Thanks for letting me "spout" off.

The piano sheet is much easier for this piece than the violin sheet, so it is only logical and even fair that the violin gets far more recognision as the violin sheet is more difficult by a gigantic margin. With that being said, yes the pianist does a great work and deserves praise. Both were fantastic.

Its not the fact we forgot, but we truly don't need to care. Yes, the pianist was good, but of course she was. She is an adult with far more years of practice and even an easier sheet to play. The violinist, however, is quite young with not so many years of experience. That is why the pianist doesn't get as much recognition. It wasn't about the pianists show but the violinists. If the pianist had their own show instead, then indeed they would get more recognition.

As a violinist, currently around the same age as Sohyun was when she performed this (thinking similarly to Sohyun), who is currently preparing to perform this piece, and as a pianist who has accompanied my siblings multiple times in the past, I understand the level of difficulty of this piece, but also how hard it is to accompany another person during a musical performance.
