Heinrich Baermann (1784-1847), clarinetist extraordinaire, lived contemporaneously with the Biedermeier movement in the visual arts. Usually considered to be between 1815-1848, this period marked the prosperity of the middle class and emphasis on home life between the Napoleonic era and nationalist movements in Europe.
