Heinrich Schiff, such a wonderful cellist he was. I'm so happy to have his CD set of the Bach suites, signed by him in April of year 2000 at a concert when he collected his newly produced cello. He even made me a drawing of a ship ("Schiff")!

Regretable Schiff died 2016, he played only with great pianists (Brendel, Fellner, Gulda and now Piemontesi (he take a feb studies with a Brendel). Unforgotten his Shostakovich cello concertos.

Fellner absolutely does not belong in one row with Brendel and Gulda. Unforgotten his Bach Suites.

You can tell by the very pronounced and extended corners on the c-bouts. That, and it's chocolately gorgeous earthy tone. Now, if only someone could tell me where it is now ( mid 2024) and why it's not being played by one of the upcoming great artists....
