One of the biggest reasons I love Sleeping at Last so much is because of the incredible amount of various parts of life that are explored within the lyrics. I have recently been reflecting on how family generations affect each other. How my grandparents affected my parents, and how my parents have affected me. Not to blame anyone, but to recognize both the good and broken parts that they brought into the next generation while they were trying to do their best. I have been reflecting on what good I want to keep and what familial issues that have been passed down that need to be let go of.

Very wise to do this as early as possible so that healing can happen as early as possible for the benefits it will bring in your own time. It will save your children from unnecessary suffering too, & that is priceless. ❤🌺❤

We ARE so much more than just our parent's children... but Lord, let me hold on to all the good they taught me...

One of my personal favourites of Ryan’s! It’s upbeat, but the lyrics themselves makes the song more emotional than you’d expect it to be! “You are so much more than the wars you’ve won” are such hard hitting words! 😢 Heirloom hits the heartstrings every time! ❤

Love this song! I named a WIP after it, and it correlates with one of my characters: “You are so much more than your father’s son”

Never had children, never be worthy of being a husband. But this is the sentiment i know to the imagined spouse/children, and in reality the if the heirloom i leave my future self. I don’t kniw any other song that considers on this subject, and im grateful to have at least one (and such a musically appreciable one as well!)

You try your hardest to leave the past alone This crooked posture is all you've ever known It is the consequence of living in between The weight of family and the pull of gravity You are so much more than your father's son You are so much more than what I've became Long before you were born there was light Hidden deep in these young, unfamiliar eyes A million choices, though little on their own Become the heirloom of the heaviness you've known You are so much more than your father's son You are so much more than what I've become What I've become What I've become You pressed rewind For the thousandth time When the tapes wore through So you memorized Those unscripted lines Desperate for some kind of clue When the scale tipped When you inherited A fight that you were born to lose It's not your fault No, it's not your fault I put this heavy heart in you I put this heavy heart in you You remind me of who I could have been Had I been stronger and braver way back then A million choices, though little on their own Became the heirloom of the heaviness we've known You are so much more than your father's son You are so much more than the wars you've won You are so much more than your father's son You are so much more than what I've become

É sempre difícil conter as lagrimas... Parabéns pelo trabalho incrível que você sempre fez e continua a fazer.

wow… Thank you for this song, it is helping me to piece together a backstory of a character in my book. 😊 A man born and raised in a corrupted system, seemingly destined to repeat the sins of his father, until he decides to fight against the force that has given his father everything, at the cost of his soul and conscience.

I have a character who's a trans girl in a very conservative family, whenever i listen to this song, imagine his brother, who ran away from home, dedicating her this song.
