FUN FACT: regular carrots are orange because the Dutch 'bred' them to be orange (in honor of the royal family- the 'Oranje' (Orange) family). Before that most carrots were purple

Kindryte - and when I used the purple ones in my crockpot...I can’t tell which ones they are when it’s done. They lose their purple to the water and are either orange or white now. Can’t tell because I used orange and white also in the pot.

We have taste tested all our different varieties together before, and even the different orange types are a little different in taste. Our purple and yellow are the most popular in the home "blind" taste tests :)

I honestly think purple carrots have a deeper, sweeter and frankly more....carrot-y flavor than the regular ones. They just have more earth to them....but maybe all fresh carrots taste this way when given similar care as the fancy rainbow variety?

I had some lovely carrots in my garden that were dark purple on the outside and orange inside. When you cut them into rounds they almost looked zebra striped. They were gorgeous on the plate and really tasty too.

If you didnt already know this, I've heard you need very loose, almost sandy soil to grow carrots well! I tried growing carrots twice but they never surpassed 3 inches :(

Oh, I've got Sandy soil. I live on the east coast close to the rivers. We have concrete driveways because the ground is so soft, you can get stuck if it rains. Lol I also live in the swamp. Carrots are grown here alot.

We buy rainbow carrots for special occasions mostly because they're pretty. I do think the original purple ones have a deeper, sweeter flavor, but it's subtle. You can't cook them for too long either, or they loose their beautiful rainbow effect! Also, sticking with Irina or Anastasia for the new cutter~

I know nothing about soap making, aside from the tidbits that I've learned watching these videos for the past,... two-ish years?- but I would like to make a suggestion. Perhaps, if it would work at all, in any fashion, you could sprinkle the top of the soap(before adding the carrot greens) with apricot seeds, micah, or some other soil-looking product. I feel it may help to hide the little bits of the inbeds(imbeds?) that you can see at the top, and just add a little touch of "realism." As it stands, I enjoy them just as they are too. Thank You for sharing your skill, and your goofy side, with us.
