I was lucky enough to get heirloom relatively recent, level 180, but back then you didn't get shards, it was heirloom right away and you don't choose. Got lifeline sticks, was upset at first, since I didn't play her, but later ended up maining lifeline and still maining her.

Imo it makes no sense that lower levels get packs every level but higher levels don't.. And also that some really low levels get heirlooms before they even know what an heirloom is.. Also I get why low levels get so many packs.. It's just so that it makes them want to play more so they can get cool things but high levels will more likely play more (or like mid levels like 200-300)

It's guaranteed on your 500th apex pack, the devs added the pity heirloom shards a while back so that everyone that played long enough could atleast get one. On top of that I believe it's 350 apex packs that you open between level one and level 500. So calculate in all the packs you've opened from battlepasses and treasure packs and events and you were probably damn close to your 500tj apex pack when you spent that 80 dollars. Basically what I'm saying is you probably could have spent 20 and got enough packs to hit 500 and get your shards. I currently playing the same countdown game, im close to level 400 and I also know I've bought atleast 50 apex pack from the store so I know when I hit 500 I'll be really close to my 500th apex pack
