Cataphracts definitely should have all been used simultaneously on the same flank. Could have been devastating, and one skirmisher cavalry would not have been enough that early.

Love the Massilian vs Saba gameplay, great fun! I would have loved to see a Hellenised barbarian faction with pikes. Would have been fun to see levy spearmen covering for a pike line.

Ardiaei would have also been a good choice against Saba. Their hoplites are better than the Massilian ones and are very hard for Sabean cataphracts to beat. Marines can also do a ton of damage to cav since they are a beefed-up thureos unit with better melee attack and missile accuracy.

Saba, my favorite faction. Awesome camel units, noble swordmen are not the best in the game, but may hold well a line with shield wall, slingers are great, archers not so much; skirmishers not very good due to low morale, but capable of doing some damage. All spear units are great, caravan guard holds the like like a brick, has javelins for early damage, can last for a long time with square formation. Royal Marib Guard is very strong, shreds cavalry. Melee camel cavalry is the best in my opinion. Kills archers and skirmishers really fast, can last against cavalry, but it is best not to lock them on a fight with cavalry. Best to leave cavalry to the spears, so can work a strategy against archers and swords. Camels have great stamina, scare horses, high hit points and can outflank enemies really fast, however, not as fast as horses. The camel archers are great to harass heavy infantry and spears while keeping a safe distance and exhausting the opponent. Great mercenaries, good to get out of sticky situations, specially in the campaign when an urgent mobilization is needed. Shredding everything with armored Syrian elephants is funny!

Hey heir, Rome 2 UI is lying to you again. I don't know why this is the case, but there are only 2 camel entities in the game, regular and armored, so anyone riding an armored camel has similar mass. Strangely both the Sabean and Ma'rib Camel Cataphracts use light entities for the rider, despite them being covered in armor, while the Royal Camel Archers use heavy entities for their riders. So, Royal camel archers are actually heavier at 880 mass (750+130) than either Cataphract at 820 (750+70). It's not a huge difference and the Royal Camel Archers have nowhere near the melee stats or charge bonus, but it seems like an oversight by CA. Unless they wanted the Cataphracts to be able to dismount and run around faster most archers while having 90-110 armor which seems pretty useless.

Why do you think he wins every time??? Because he chooses his faction first and makes his opponent vs him with specialized rules.

This is not Sol playing in this video. Sol is not hotel soap. I have played with Sol and he is a really nice guy. His rules are very fair and are designed to make the factions as balanced as possible and keeps the battles fun. I usually host my own battles and I never make the other person follow rules, but I play by Sol's rules for my own army. If he is hosting and had rules and you do not follow the rules, then you deserve to get kicked. When I played with him (which was for several hours and is how I met him) I hosted and we played without any rules and he had no complaints. He kicked my butt but it was a lot of fun and am super grateful as it taught me a lot. If you are confused and are talking about hotel soap instead, I can't speak to that because I do not know him
