Don’t count your eggs too soon. It’s still plenty of dancers left… there’s also a ton of politics in the Heiva, and it’s also super strict on rules. Tahia is a modern dancer with modern background. Not always an advantage.

@@isldgalIt’s still very little Tahitian steps. I bet on Ranitea or Maheana. Ranitea has the best Fa’arapu overall, but Maheana has more steps. Sandrine had the best solo, bit weaker Fa’arapu. When the dancers are high quality and good basics, it’s all down to the Fa’arapu.

@@isldgalIt’s not very toned down when she lacks more basic steps. Weird when it is the Heiva, and she knows this. Moena toned down, yet showed more versatility. But Moena is top caliber and a legend. If she hadn’t won back in 2011, as her technique is also flawless, it would be a national uproar! I like Tahia, but even this solo lacked Tahia in it tbh. But depend son how much say she had over her own solo as she’s not from Toakura/Hanihei, and they do represent another group therefore it’s strictly not just up to them but also the choreographer, Ra’atira etc. Moena is the lead dancer for Tahiti Ora, so different story. She did better at the Tia I Mai festival, but then too modern and it wasn’t a competition that year due to covid.

@@kilipaki87oritahiti That's true on the basic steps. It was a beautiful solo, but definitely would have been stronger with more basic steps. I agree on Moena. She is in a league of her own. It was amazing to see her versatility between LGBDT and a more traditional Tahiti Ora. She can do it all! I really enjoy your commentary! Thank you for sharing!!

C’est nul, pourquoi on l’a attribué le titre de 2 eme meilleure danseuse? Elle bouge tout son corps, niveau gestuelle n’en parlant. Ce n’est pas descriptif du moins on n’a rien compris en rapport avec le thème du groupe. On n’a rien compris

Omg totally forgot about the annual Heiva I Tahiti being in early July😅🫣🫠 Gonna be honest, as much as I love modern, and Tahia being a former LGBDT dancer, it’s not my favorite, nor has any of the other solos so far impressed me choreo wise… disappointing, but it’s not over yet. Tho Tahia has never looked as beautiful as she does here. She has gained some weight, she’s literally glowing, and her skin just radiates health, and human perfection😍😍😍 Her costume is🤌🏾 Personally I’d chosen a white or green pareu. You can’t see anything with black. On a more serious note, I was told her steps aren’t very Tahitian, and too modern, and seeing this is the Heiva, the rules are super strict, so I don’t foresee her winning. Even Moena had to restrict her self when dancing, as she too has a background from the Les Grands Ballets de Tahiti, and is a modern dancer…

I don't know why I find that other dancers impress me more than she does, like Moena. I guess her style isn't what I prefer. I'm sure she's great at what she does and she's a good person.
