HEL Performance | Brake Test | Castle Coombe Circuit

We recently decided to test our brake lines around the Castle Coombe Circuit and film the results. Charlie Butler-Henderson and James Hayden came along to give us 'the professionals opinion' and the weather played ball all day with us.
We took the HEL Performance Race Truck along and used a Kawasaki ZX10R with a certain James Hayden on its standard hoses for the first tests.
We then manufactured a HEL kit in the truck trackside, put it straight on the bike and sent it out on the circuit to see the difference.

I had a standard rubber hosed 600 on a racetrack. Coming over the hill at phillip island was hard to apply enough pressure to brake going into turn 10. Once I changed to braided lines I could do it much easier with less apparent pressure it was a huge improvement. So try it you will see a difference.

I don't see how they could reduce brake fade (he says they do near the end of this vid) surely only pads affect fade. and maybe higher boiling point fluid.

i have a standard zx10r and although they might not be the best brakes on the world they are powerful enough to go over the bars with two finger braking if necessary. im not convinced by this video. i would love to see real scientific proof of it then id go straight out and but a set now.

+a20rsx What do you need to know ? We are simply proving on screen that rubber hoses (as standard on oem) do expand under heavy braking losing braking power to the caliper. When we swapped the results are as shown...

+HEL Performance i would like to see a pressure loss comparason off the bike. i can help with setting up a test rig to show for real that hel lines hold pressure better than standard. all i would need is a new set of hel lines. new set of oem lines. calipers and a master cylinder. i am a cnc machinist and can make you up a mobile test rig that you can show the real life advantages of having hel lines. message me if interested. mike.

I can tell you one thing, the difference in feel between standard hoses and braided of any brand is significant.

@@Yamaprilia the zx10r comes with braided steel lines i dont think there that much better to be honest but its definitly much beter modulation

@@patthonsirilim5739 up to 2015 they were rubber hoses. I never had issues with the standard hoses even on track. But they dont look that nice

Well gents, based on this test, just ordered a full set of black hoses for my Mk2 Scirocco which, braking wise, is currently a white knuckle experience! Fingers crossed these will transform the sponge under my right foot... 🤞

They make nice master cylinders too!
