HELD Air N Dry Gloves Review | Passing CBT | London Motorcycle Show 2018

Phew, that's one heck of a title! Here's my Held Air N Dry Gloves Review vid, but this week we've also got Nikki (Mrs TeapotOne) Passing CBT, as well as a quick look at what went on at the London Motorcycle Show 2018.
I was sent a pair of these Held Air N Dry Gloves by Moto Central (www.motocentral.co.uk) to test and review here on the TeapotOne youtube channel. I've worn them for the last month, covered over 1,000 miles in wintry, wet weather, so now's the time to hear what I think of them.

Nikki hit the big four-oh and made a list of 40 things to do in your 40's. On that list was pass her CBT, so true to her word, that's exactly what she did. Nikki decided to use 'Phoenix Motorcycle Training' and went to their Sidcup branch for her CBT, although they have locations all over the UK - check them out at www.phoenixtrainingonline.co.uk
Back in early February I was invited along to the mcn London Motorcycle Show by Nathan Millward, to be part of the Adventure Zone once again. Each day I gave a little presentation on packing for a motorcycle trip, and the rest of the time I spent chatting to people about their own adventures, plans and dreams.
This year the amount of people coming up and saying they followed the channel was insane! Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to say hello, it was great to meet each and every one of you.
On top of all that I also finally got to meet 'The Missenden Flyer' and 'Lamb Chop Rides' at the show, as well as the @RAF100Stations lads, Ben King, and say farewell to the 2moroRider, Rhys Lawrey - who is returning back to New Zealand.

Hi Bruce great review,I have the Held Air n Dry gloves ,we just got away before the beast from the east struck ! left lancashire last monday down to folkestone then tuesday across to france and into monaco then ending in Itlay then back to lancs.2500 miles temps to a low of -11c for one day near reims then warmed up....heated grips on most of the time but what i find is the heat gets to your hands quicker in the air section of the gloves and hence your pinkies stay warm...just my finding but great gloves

Great to see that you met MJ of Phoenix who is also the chairman of LAM. As misses said some one needs to ride properly and stay right sided up. So you never know Bruce she may teach you a few things 😀😷 get her on a bikesafe and do consider some additional training. Maybe a LAM skills day on the track once she obtains her full license. I've had 2 pairs of the Held Air N Dry over the past 5 years, brilliant glove but the issue I've had is the gore-tex part comes out when getting wet after about 18 months. On my RT-P they were good through the winter. Didn't know about the warranty lol. Moved onto a 3 season WP glove now.

well done on getting that CBT, worst thing I could have done was to go with my wife for a direct access license :( I did ride a 50 from when I was 14 to when I was 20 years old and then a 125 (not my fault they could not fix my 50 cc engine on my derby as they had none in stock only 125 ), so i had a bit of a head start, but just go my full license (wearing my N proudly) and managed to get her on the back the F800R, now she s back wanting a bike :) . oh she got really cold butt wearing those fancy lady riding yoga pants :)

As someone who works with motorcycle clothing, both of my colleagues have theses gloves and i sell a few a good busy weekend. i know people who have worn them for 60K miles to a couple of hundred and they rate them a lot more than any other gloves. However, if you like the 2 in 1 system but have an adventure bike, I would recommend the Held Sambia as it is an off road looking glove. However if I were to have 2 pairs of gloves for the year, I would have these as well as the Held twins which are a winter orientated version of the air and drys. definitely worth a look at.

I've been a fan of Knox gloves but the recent ones seem to have a different fit, either that or my thumbs have shrunk! Fit wise, do you think these will give much in use, or would the goretex bit stop that? I did see you from a distance at the Bike show but there was a long queue waiting.... Cheers Nick, Aye the Held gloves do give a bit over time, but they are still a bit of a faff to get the jacket sleeve over them. I wore them today up to HillTop and they were great in the freezing cold 👍

Awesome video teapot, however, lol, If you put milk in first, the teabag can’t brew properly, you need 90 odd degrees, milk cools the water to much, and when you bin the teabag, you bin some milk too, 😀

I have those gloves ... worked fine for me during warmer weather (30C) and are good down to about 0C (but only for short rides really). Mine are still going strong - seams fine, waterproof, holding up well after 12000 miles of use.

teapotone ... I hear ya. I think is comes down to what you are used to plus the jacket sleeves. I can expand and then reduce the cuff size on my jacket with Velcro adjusters, so they work well for me. Let me know if you head out to Loomies for a bimble past Leatherhead/Guildford at any time .... I'll join you on my GS.

Bruce. Question for ya. After using them for some time now how are you finding them? The reason I ask is I spent a considerable amount of money on a well know brand of a glove which was Gore-Tex branded last October and only after a few months and is now as about as watertight as a paper boat. How are you finding these as they were on my list but I choose the others at the time. Keep the vids coming mate, Love em

Hi Richard, I’ve continued wearing the gloves, despite the under-the-jacket fit issue and have to say I really like them. I just rode to Germany and back over the weekend and it was horrendous weather, cold and wet, the kind of rain storms that make you feel like you’re in a car wash!! The gloves stayed watertight throughout, genuinely the first pair of gloves I’ve ever worn that didn’t let any water in! This is no doubt due in part to them being under the jacket type of gloves, which still really annoys me when putting them on and taking them off, but the inherent bonus of staying dry makes up for this. I heartily recommend them mate, great gloves 👍

just purchased the held gloves on the strength of this vid, at 3am tomorrow morning i start a 2000+ mile run in under 48hrs and the weather is not favourable, will report on my findings.... lol

2450 miles, 46 hours ( including 3 1/2 hours in bed) Sunday 29th July was heavy rain and my bike has no real protection from the elements (ZRX1200R) gloves kept me dry for less than 2 hours before they were sodden and that's how they stayed all day, once the sun went down my hands were not only wrinkly but cold too, , gloves dried rather quickly, 4 am start following day, wore my handroids for the run up to John O'Groates and the sun was out until i got back to the A1m, heavy showers, put the held gloves back on and they were dry and kept my hands dry through several heavy showers, my opinion, well made gloves but not quite what they claim, ideal for ride outs where you might get caught in showers, but not for prolonged rain, comfy in wet mode not so in breezy as they feel thick and clumsy on the backs of the hands, I would say try before you buy, I felt they come up 1 to 1and a half sizes small compared to Knox gloves, not dissimilar in size to alpinestars winter gloves, little on the expensive side especially considering how wet my hands were.... kinda regret buying them but hey ho, live and learn.... oh and definitely milk first, all to do with the emulsification......

Wow Sarah, that’s a heck of a run you did there, well done! Interesting to hear what you say about the Held gloves, personally I thought they were the most waterproof gloves I’ve tried yet. Did you Have them under your jacket or over? Yep totally agree on the breezy feedback, it does kind of feel like you’ve got MMA gloves on with all that padding across the back of the hand. Sorry you weren’t totally happy with them, but great real world review and well done again on that fantastic run 👍

I was wearing my textiles with an oversuit over the top, had the gloves over the textiles and under the oversuit, on the second day (heavy showers) i had dumped the teabag oversuit and had the gloves over my textiles, don't know if that would have made any difference, I have sent all my paperwork off to the IBA for verification, it doesn't really matter if i don't get it because the whole point of me doing this was to raise money for cancer research in my sisters memory, at last count over £2000, so i am over the moon about that

That’s a fantastic amount to raise Sarah, very well done. Re the gloves issue, I normally always wear my gloves over my jackets, but with the Held you have to wear them under. Otherwise rain just runs down the sleeve of the jacket and into the glove. When I changed and wore the gloves under the jacket, I found them to be totally dry on the times I used them in the wet?

RSM8 Forgot to say, I'm glad it's not just me that finds gloves a proper 'faff' these days.....I blame all that blinking Velcro.....I never had the problem when there was a YKK zip up the back....put your jacket on, put your gloves on ...job done!!!

Surely with the glove inside the jacket, wind, rain & other crap is driven up inside the jacket? I can’t ever remember using a pair of motorcycle gloves that went inside the jacket. Sadly physics ensures that gloves will never keep your hands warm in cold conditions when compared with mitts. How about handlebar Muffs, Gloves & heated grips? Toasty but probably not cool? Sometimes the old ways work better. My dad did used them on his Matchless G12 in 1953. Well, not the heated grips! 😊

Aye I’m the same, always wear gloves over my jackets. I tried the muffs, heated grips and summer gloves on a Triumph Explorer I had, absolutely amazing. In fact it was sometimes too hot and I had to turn the heated grips off!! 👍

Gloves are great, I have the BMW branded ones, but made by held. Tea, sooo wrong, however if there is one group in the job that are expert brew makers ;)

Love good gear reviews. Will look at Knox and held . What color lingerie will go with the woman’s glove ? OJ or chocolate milk . I don’t like milk in my tea just honey . That’s a big cat. I wish they had quality training in the states . I’ve had to do it on my own . I use Motojitsu on KZbin for some training programs & courses I set up for myself to get better . I hit a empty parking lot for 10 minutes every ride . Your tax money goes into a giant shredder . It’s an innovative project developed by some progressive liberals . Nice bike show . Gear video.
