I talked to a brother and sister that live on Curtis Creek Rd. along with their extended family. They told me that a NCDOT from Greensboro NC worked from sunup to sundown and even after dark to make sure the people who live on this road could get in and out. NCDOT was the only ones that checked on these families. Public Servants don't always carry a gun or drive an ambulance. In this case they drive dump trucks and operate machinery.

Is this Curtis Creek out of Old Fort NC?
@c.randall11352 ай бұрын
I do believe so. We have fished/camped there and take it to BRP pakway

@@c.randall1135 I've done the same thing literally hundreds of times. It's unrecognizable to me.

Yes it is. It also damaged the Hwy 70 bridge and closed it. Curtis Creek and up Newberry Creek.

@@chiefsholstersI've fly-fished every inch of Curtis Creek and camped dozens of times both at the campground and up above it in the rough camping areas. It got hit hard in the 2004 flood but obviously nothing like this. Very sad to see.

I said the same thing. It will recover though. Just going to take some time.

Do you know who did the blacktop work?
@chiefsholsters2 ай бұрын
Based on the vehicles I saw today, I'd say NCDOT did it. They were out on a Saturday and had equipment staged in several places.

@@chiefsholsters This is the first video that even suggests NC DOT is actually helping in Western NC. Thank you for answering.

@ they are working. The issue is the extent of the damage. It is overwhelming. They can be working hard. But there is so much damage you might not know unless they are working where you are. And the reality is, there is so much damage it’s more than the state or feds can handle. They need the private help too.

@@ponderrosie4975 NC DOT is out but they are dealing with absolute insane damage in some areas. To get the damage repaired in a FAST manner would probably take the entire road crews from 2-3 other states (that can't spare any people themselves). This is just one of those "suck it up and be patient buttercup" situation. Sucks, but it is what it is. Oh, I also live less than two miles from this creek so I'm not an unaffected outsider blowing "be patient" smoke at people. People need to be patient, when you look at it all with logic and not emotion it's obvious that it will take YEARS if not decades to fully recover from this.
