We fled Beulah in 1968 & wound up in bumper to bumper traffic for over 8 hours & because it spawned 225 tornadoes over more than a 10,000 sq mi area, had to keep changing routes until we wound up back close to home so drove back there after 14 hours of non-stop driving. If every auto in the world was an ev, it would reduce oil consumption by a mere 10%.

@psyklown5198Ай бұрын
@BadGVideoGames dude, it took andrew 36 hrs. You folks and this stupid climate change bs. On the morning of 22 August, the storm became a hurricane and continued to strengthen. Just 36 hours later, Hurricane Andrew had developed to its peak intensity as a Category 5 hurricane with winds of 282 km/h (175 mph) and a central pressure of 922 mb (hPa).
@SigFigNewtonАй бұрын
Gaslighting? A hurricane is winds, rushing toward an extreme low pressure region, curved around that low pressure system by the coriolis effect. So it’s low pressure. Why is there low pressure? Because hot air is rising, leaving a void beneath. The hurricane is rushing inward - then curving - wind that fills the space left by rising air.
@SigFigNewtonАй бұрын
Higher surface water temperatures -> more water evaporates, it takes energy input to cause this transition from liquid to gas -> the water vapor rises til reach a height where it’s cool enough to become liquid again (cloud formation), and this reverse transition releases the energy input that made it a gas. “Latent heating”. -> so we now have increased latent heating in the air there, allowing for more ability of the air to rise, enhancing the low pressure.
