I recycled a large velvet curtain to make a roller blind for our kitchen - I hope it's helpful if you're thinking of doing the same :)

Maybe laying the fabric flat and square with the edge of the table then holding the pole from each end and sticking the pole to the fabric rather than the other way round would have helped? Looks good though, I'm tempted to make one for my hallway now. It looks much easier than making a Swedish blind with all the pockets, string and eyes :)

Yes I think you're right; laying the pole onto the fabric is probably the answer! Did you make a Swedish blind? Well done!

I also love wonky, it has personality. My home made bedroom blind also made from kit was a nightmare, its never moved from half way down window since I made it 5ish years ago, it's stuck. I've gotten used to only having a foot of widow to look out. But i still love it. XXX

Haha! Love the story about your bedroom blind! It makes that foot of window all the more enjoyable!

How would you keep it clean not being a wipe clean blind 🤔. Looking into buying fabric to do this but I will just use my old blind fittings. If it works out to expensive I will just buy new rollerblinds for my kitchen.

Hi! I couldn't buy a roller blind wide enough for my kitchen, so making one was really my only choice, and I would simply rather have a velvet one than a wipe clean one. It's quite far back from the sink, and it's been a couple of years now and it doesn't look dirty to me!
