I started painting 25 years ago. I bought her videos in local art shop in UK. She was big influence on my work, and even today, she helps me through her books. Great teacher!

Sadly, Helen passed away in 1994. These lessons are dedicated to honoring her remarkable legacy and ensuring that her expertise continues to benefit new generations of artists. Helen was not only a fantastic artist but also an exceptional teacher who inspired many with her passion, creativity, and unique approach to painting. Her techniques and insights remain influential, and the goal is to keep her teachings alive and accessible for everyone who wants to learn from her. So it's great to hear you found Helen. Thanks for posting. It's appreciated.

You've discovered Helen's talent for commentary while she teaches. She has many stories to motivate and inspire, targeted to help students be better painters, but as you say, many about living a happy and fulfilling life. I'm really glad you enjoy listening to her. Thanks for posting, it's very much appreciated.

Helen's lifework as a teacher is too valuable to be lost to time. Her lessons will continued to be remastered and shared for everyone to enjoy and learn.

Thank you so much for these videos. I have her book called Helen Van Wyks Favorite Color Recipes. Oil Painting is my first love and her book was one of the first that I bought about 13 years ago. I learned so much from that book, and never did I think I would see her on KZbin. Even tho she is no longer with us, she is like Bob Ross, an artistic Icon that we love so. Thank you again.

Helen how long have you been posting....you are fantastic. I love your confidence and teaching technique. Obvious you’ve been exposed to the best we’re did you learn. And by whom if you don’t mind me asking. Your fundamentals and demand for the artist to develop his own seeing and truth is refreshing and truthful....finally . Please continue. And would you consider a live teaching session.... You new student Randy

Take a photo of the objects that you are painting AS YOU SEE THEM from where you are standing at the easel. Insert the photo at bottom left so we can see what you are looking at and understand why you are doing what you are doing on the canvas ! SHOW us the copper pitcher as you are mixing the right color for it. SHOW us the onions AS you discuss how to mix the correct paint color!! What colors did you mix for the background color ? You say that the color is homogeneous...that it harmonizes with the other colors on the canvas, but you don't say what pigments were used to create that color. Please !
