@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 Love Richard Tucker, so strong. I think MDM is my favorite on this. I prefer italian and french languages in opera. But Rosvaenge makes it exceptional to do other languages as a special case, to me. English in opera is not ideal either.

Rosvaenge fue un gran tenor, una voz pareja en todos los registros y poseedor de un trino (thrill) único entre los tenores dramáticos ( escuchen Ah si ben mio), y el único tenor que canta la nota final de Giá nella notte densa como está escrita: pianissimo, como debe ser, pues es una invitación de amor de Otelo a Desdémona. Su gran déficit es que cantó todo en alemán. Pudo actuar en Salzburgo después de la guerra, pero Karajan le exigió cantar en italiano. Su 'inner side' sólo él lo conoció..

Hizo bien Karajan en exigirle en cantar en italiano! No se por qué los tenores latinos tenian que interpretar en el dificil idioma aleman y ellos no! Se creerian especiales respecto al resto? Pienso que eran demasiado cómodos!

No diga burradas. En esa época era la costumbre. Los franceses cantaban en francés el repertorio aleman e italiano y los italianos cantaban lo mismo el francés en italiano asi como el aleman. Helge canta tan bien que el tedesco pasa muy bien. Que vozarron! He tenido que bajar el sonido .... y se le entiendo todo, bueno tanto como puedo entender.

great voice, but not at his prime here and not in his best repertoire... Italian repertoire has to be sung by Italian singers (and in Italian!!!). He also takes too many breaths during the aria...

I understand your point of view but it is anachronic it's not until the 1970's that Operas were systematically worldwide sung in the original langage . For national audiences , national theatres adapted to the langage of the country. But this is a glorious voice no ?

​@@theogoldberg8919 Music is strictly correlated to words and viceversa... I know that until '60s it was common everywhere to translate operas, but it's not the same.
