Helibar install on the BMW R1250RS

This is a video installing the helibars on the BMW R1250RS, it also includes a quick ride at the end. The helibars are a small bracket that brings the bars up and forward a little, resulting in a more comfortable position for long trips.

Hello AussieVMAX and regards from the US. Only recently got myself a 2020 R1250RS and installed same Helibars as you did in your video. Wondering if you fee/think that the clutch hydraulic hose/line gets too taught/tight whne turning handlebar either all the way to left or right.... Thanks much!

Hello, I have also raised the semi-handlebars 30 mm up, 25 forward and not only does it improve the position but it also improves maneuverability, I put the Hornig ones on them that look better to my liking, greetings!

Hey Salvador, I bought the risers from Voigt but haven't installed them yet. They go up 30 and 21 closer. For the Hornig install, did you have to use cable extensions for either the brake and/or clutch? Thanks!

Have the same on my '20 RS. I'm tall ( 6'4" / 193 cm) and this along with the sport (tall) seat make the bike a near perfect fit.

@@advdmatic R bars will fit w/o adapters. You can even order the R bar fitted at the factory now.

Is there any reason you didn't use the clutch cable extension? Any binding or stretching without?

No need, I did a bit of mucking around for the brake cable but that was all that was needed.

Just subscribed. I see that you have R1250RS. Did you notice any vibes in the standard handlebar? Some say that it vibes in comparison to R1250R that is so-called vibesfree. And what about vibes after the installation of risers? Anyway, how tall are you and how was the stock screen for you? I am interested in this bike. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, the vibration hasn’t changed with the helibars, it was never that bad anyway. I’m only 168 cm, the original screen was bad on the highway, the Givi made a massive difference.

@@aussievmax Hi the Heli instructions say 16 ft/lb of torque for the risers to the original handlebar mounts and 16-18 ft / lb for the handlebars to the Helibars. That equates to nearly 22 Nm. Are you sure it's 62Nm...? The BMW manual for the R1250RS says 19Nm for the original handlebar bolts, which is slightly less again.

It rides great, much lighter especially when stopped, much more confident going a lot harder into corners. It’s a great all round bike.

Yes, no different. Just check clutch line isn't stretched to hard. You may have to lose the bottom rubber cable tie to free up some slack.

Yes, all the cables still fit well even at full lock.

I just installed mine and when turned all the way to the right the clutch pipe gets really stretched. In the manual it indicates some slight rerouting change but I still did not feel was enough. I ended up freeing more of the clutch pipe. Just a heads up, maybe installations are not exactly the same but still.
